You guys might have scared him off, he doesn't even have his license yet.
Come on back, there is a lot of good knowledge here just some fun/joking mixed in too.

Exactly. I have met exactly 1 fighter pilot who (re)named himself, and he was a total tool. Pilots give each other funny names almost always because of something stupid they did or to lovingly give them sh1t about something. I think that is, in general, how nick names should go.
I was recently given a long list of Marine and Navy pilot call signs by a retired Marine fighter pilot and how they were earned. Some are hilarious. 🤣

I think after Green Booger he left and went to make fun of us with his friend with the 60k worth of snapon tools

I couldn't resist giving a very small sample of that list. It's a screen shot from my phone so I'll hope It's legible. If not I'll do it on my desktop computer.

I've also been told most of the "cool" callsigns are given to people they don't like. Like the guy I was referring to earlier--originally his was "Hammer" which sounds cool, but supposedly it was because he was such a tool. Don't remember what he changed it to, just the original because the still called him it and he was real cranky about it. He was my pilot though so I tried not to antagonize him :D

You aircrew on something or a crew chief? I knew one named 'Viper' - couldn't get him to tell me the origin for the life of me. I eventually got it out of another pilot - "Very Idiotic PERson".

The naming thing seems to be incredibly popular in the JK and JL crowd I've noticed. I have no idea why.
It's a Facebook thing (and I'm not fan).

I usually try to get FB Jeep club people to post their legitimate tech questions on an actual Jeep forum, rather than trusting the mall crawlers
