What did you do to your TJ today?

2003 TJ, 4.0

Installed new Autolite XP985 Spark Plugs. The original Champion plugs apparently were still installed at 117,000mi.
It was still running fine, but I was curious as to plug condition. The combustion pattern looked good on all cylinders, but they had wide gaps, around .046 average, I guess from long-term usage.

Started compounding and waxing the paint. Hard work. Good results!

I recently purchased my 1st jeep so I started some maintenance, replaced spark plugs, pulled off throttle body it was black and gunkeded up. Removed sensors and cleaned it all up. Being my first Jeep didn't have anything to compare it to, so I just assumed rough idle and poor acceleration was a normal TJ thing. After I reassembled everything I took for a test drive, holy crap it purred like a kitten and acceleration was 10x better. For 35$ the results were amazing. Now next will be rear pinion seal.

We gotta get a Jeep outing planned. Last time I was wheeling there wasn't a single other TJ there.
Let me know if you want to head out to Port A, North Padre or South Padre. I'm in Fredericksburg. Wife and I are heading down to Port A area this Thursday.

Well done..... there's not much to the TJ, most of it is pretty simple to work on with some basic tools..(part of the reason Jeepers love the TJ)...Welcome to the club

You should notice an increase in fuel mileage. Nothing dramatic but I've read that a lot of guys have gotten 1-3 mpgs increases after putting in these plugs.

Thank you! But I wouldn't be able to go with y'all this weekend - however, I'd be happy to meet y'all somewhere on a beach in between Fredericksburg and Houston (where I live)?

If you would like to come out for a run to the wolf caves in Mason I can keep you in the loop. It probably wont happen for a couple of weeks. But it will happen... lol

If anyone else in Texas would like to go for a run to the Wolf Caves or Hiddenfalls we could all try to do a meet up.

Let me know. I'm Mason side of Fredericksburg. I've looked at the Wolve Caves site. Not sure my Jeep is ready for that. Got OME 2.5 springs coming in a month or so. Rocker rails are sure to follow...Need to get in the door soon

From the pictures, wolfs cave looks pretty rocky? Is it hard on your Jeep?

You will want to have rock guards, but you can get around them as a good driver. I have a 3" lift on mine, 33's and had no problems. I scraped on my rock guards but because I wasn't paying attention to one rock.

Its not as extreme as its hyped up to be, I like the park better than Hidden falls.

Gotcha! Are there any less rocky trails at Wolfs Cave?

I have a rule of thumb: since my Jeep is my daily driver, I try to not take it on anything as rough as that.

Huh - I gotta try that too! I also need to clean my Idle Air Controller.

I just moved to Cypress yesterday, if you are up for it, would you like to try out Creekside Off-Road park?
