A little while back I went on my first trail ride. After going through a small river, my gauges went dead & the CEL came on. We had to turn around & go back through the water. After stopping, I shut it down & started it back up. Gauges were back, but the CEL was still on. The idle was erratic & when we left, she would die on me. Trying to drive home, the speedo would peg out & die shortly after or the gauges would all go dead & die. Eventually it would start bucking, then die. It sat for a couple days & the CEL was gone & she drove great. Now the CEL is back on & will randomly die. Pulled codes & got P0335, P0016, & U0115. My first step is to replace the crankshaft position sensor. Any other recommendations? I will also be going through the electrical sensors to put dielectric grease, in case I have to go through water again....

I wouldn’t buy anything yet. Disconnect the sensors that you have codes for and blow them dry with air. Clear codes and take it for a drive.

It was dried out & drove fine for a few days, but started having issues, again. Codes were cleared & popped up again. Figure a $20.00 part won’t break the bank if it helps!😁

When you say it was “dried out”, what does that mean? Did you disconnect them and blow dry them? Only genuine Mopar sensors are recommended.

No. Sat for a week. I’ll give your recommendation a shot. We plan on taking it to MO for a rafting trip & don’t want to be blindsided, fully loaded & 4 hours from home.

Good luck with a $20 CPS. Keep in mind that part gets soaked with rain.

I’ve replaced the crankshaft sensor & OPDA with camshaft sensor. After replacing, the Jeep still stalls out. While driving, the CEL will flash. If I pull over & restart it, it may go away for a few miles. It’s given me a P0300(misfire) code. I’ve replaced the plugs. It idles & ran perfect, but will flash the CEL randomly. After 160 miles of this, it stalled on me again. I’ve forums the cover to the ECM is broken & the sheathing around the wires to this connector are gone(pics & video). I pulled this plug & cleaned it out with electrical connection cleaner. Any suggestions?

NAPA. Dodge dealer said MOPAR is discontinued on the camshaft sensor & recommended them. The shop for my small dealership uses them as well.
Only genuine Mopar sensors work in these TJ’s. Do you have the old sensors still? If so, inspect them for cracks in the assembly of them, especially any areas where the epoxy and plastic meet.

I written about this many times, done lots of testing and I am still learning how to solve the problem you have. Your best approach is to find Mopar sensors, look on eBay. While you are at it replace the OPDA, then have a shop sync the CPS and CKP and finally do a relearn. If that doesn't fix the problem then talk to Wrangler Fix about a rebuilt PCM.
