Does this look like a typical Dana 44 setup?

do the following photos look like your typical Dana 44 setup with an ARB locker? Im needing to order the parts soon to have this thing rebuilt but all the local shops don't seem to recognize this setup. I tried to get part numbers in the pics too.

That does not look typical... I have never seen that style of threaded adjuster on a Dana axle.

But that is a 35 spline dana 44 carrier. I do not know what housing that is, I am assuming its aftermarket.

Thats what i was confused about.. the locker is for 35 spline axle shafts. Im not sure if that would have anything to do with it. But as far as i know "typical" dana 44s have bearings and shims not the spanner wrench type adjusters on the side.

Does anyone know if this is an ECGS 489? I believe the G2 44 uses threaded adjusters but IIRC the diff cover is different on that axle....

@toximus didn't you have an ECGS axle at one point?

It is a older g2 dana 44 NOT the cores tho. Its a stout axle but I got water in the fluid and ruined the pinion bearings to the point the yoke/pinion gear comes forward out of the housing while accelerating.

Ok that clears things up. Well you have an RD109 carrier so you will need whatever bearings support that differential. As for the gears, I am having trouble making out all the markings on the ring gear. I would assume it supports standard dana 44 tj gears.

Its either going to be TJ gear or JK gears. I am leaning towards TJ gears.

dana t 18525 f7l824 44 09 that is what is stamped on the ring gear. I wrote it down and the RD109.

I tried googling that and didn't come up with anything. The difference between gear sets is the size of the pinion(or spline count). Hopefully someone else is more familiar with the original G2 axles.

G2 can't even really tell me anything🤣

I don't know much about g2 as I would never buy anything they sell, but they are currently just a 4wp house brand so I am sure they were bought out at some time.

is taking it apart an option? maybe you could still read the etching on the bearing cones. G2 doesn't sell replacement bearings or rebuild kits for their axles? yikes.

only gonna be a few bearings that fit the locker, you really just have to identify the OD of the cup to match.

work it backwards look up what bearing fits that ARB then see how many options come up. they would have used an existing bearing even if it's upgraded.really doubt they'd go through the expense of specialized bearings.

It is an aftermarket Dana 44 center. I have one of the center sections in the garage that Superior gave me to evaluate in case they ever decided to go into the axle making business. It seems to be fine but we didn't get much further than just the center section laying on the floor.

You are correct.

Sorta. TransAmerica just started a division that dealt with axles and gears. That said, they buy more shit accidentally than big companies do on purpose.

I'm 99% sure that it will use the same cups that the standard Dana 44 uses. If someone can come up with an OD of the cup, I can measure the one I have and see if it will fit. Or, if I think about it, I can dig it out and measure the journal size.

I also found out that this is the house g2 used for the older g2 "dana 44" axles. Its actually a bears 44 custom housing which also explains why the adjusters are in there.

You would have to get in touch with someone who had been on the manufacturing side and was there from the beginning. I doubt you can get him on the phone.
I had to call corporate to get straight answers outta them. As I posted above they keep all the "need to know" information away from the common tech people. It turns out tho that all the older g2 dana 44s were really bears 44 custom housings. Which explains the side adjusters in the housing. To me its all kinda bull ****.
