California NorCal Jeep adventures!

That's quite shocking. Maybe it's just old but it struggles. An A/C guy came out last year and told us our unit is in a terrible location, against a wall so it can't circulate cool(er) air, and also that the pipe for the freon was much longer than it had to be/not insulated. I insulated the line but everything else points to an expensive A/C unit replacement/relocation.
It’s all about the SEER (seasonal energy efficiency rating) The higher the number the better. The higher the number the more expensive the system will be also.

Shit, before I had this mini split installed last year, I spent the past 23 years with a roof mounted swap cooler to keep us cool.

Alamo, CA. How bad is it near you guys? Purple air claims 152 but yesterday was also 150 ish and I could see the sky.

FYI, a fire has just started near Airport Flat which is on the Loon Lake side of the trail. The Rubicon trail is closed for now. Furthermore, both the Tahoe National forest and the El Dorado National forest has ordered no camping whatsoever on the Rubicon, presumably the Fordyce as well. No fires, welders, lanterns or propane stoves allowed, whether you have a permit or not. This order is in effect thru 9/20 as of now. Rubicon Springs is open to camping on a first come first served basis, $15/Jeep. Aside from the fire, the trail would be open, you just can't camp there thru 9/20. Hopefully, things get better in the coming days...
