Now that I have removed the side steps and installed my Currie Rocksliders, I want to get rid of my next lowest hanging part. That is my TC skid plate. I currently have a drop on the skid plate from the previous owner. From what I understand from reading on the forum, I probably do not need this because I have a SYE and a DC driveshaft from Tom Woods. Things that I plan to do that might affect my decision is I want to at a Savvy 1.25 BL and then add a 1 inch MM lift.

I want to make sure that I should be good to go removing the TC skid drop with my current setup and my future setup. Do I need to adjust my pinion angle to make up for the raised TC or will my current pinion angle be good enough? Please see the pictures. I know every TJ is different and some get vibes while others don't with almost the same setup don't. Just want to get an idea of what I am looking at.

Yes the PO is a moron for installing a SYE and DC shaft but also using a TC case. You can remove it but you need to dial the pinion angle with adjustable control arms. All I can see in your pictures are old teraflex control arms which are one of the worst designed control arms ever sold for the TJ. I am not sure if they are adjustable or not.

You'll have to install the MML first and then make adjustments as needed.

p.s. What's up with the forum spelling the words out after I type MML? Magic?

Unfortunately I do have the Teraflex control arms. They are adjustable from what I understand (haven't had to adjust them yet). Since my pinion is already angled do I have to do more? I have to live with those control arms for now. I would love to get the Currie control arms, but they are not in the budget right now. What other brands do people recommend?

Once you remove the Tcase drop, you need to measure the pinion angle and the driveshaft angle. They need to be very close, within 2* of each other. I would start by setting them at exactly the same angle and see how it drives.

When you remove the transfer case skid drop, the transfer case will now be that much higher than it was before. You will want to go ahead and measure your opinion and driveshaft angles at that time and see where you are. Then adjust accordingly so they are about equal

When adjusting do I adjust both upper and lower control arms or just one or the other? To me it makes the most sense to adjust both so that the axle is not being moved forward or backwards.

Ideally you adjust both so you can center your wheel in the wheel well. You will want to check and make sure your rear trackbar clears the gas tank skid plate. It can get dicey, but you have a normal SYE and your angles are not too extreme, so I suspect it will clear. Stock wheelbase is 93.4”

Ya I just went through buying a new JKS adjustable trackbar and JKS bracket because the prior adjustable track bar hit the gas tank skid and bolt. Right when I think I'm almost done with this Jeep I find something new...and now it will be the control arms.

With that said, I see you can buy Johnny Joints from Rockjock Currie) by themselves for about $55-60. Hypothetically could I just weld those onto my crummy Teraflex adjustable control arms? I see that most companies only have an adjustable joint (like a Johnny Joint or heim joint) at one end. Rockjock has them at both ends. Are they necessary for both ends? Does one end give enough flex to not stress the control arm mounts? Also do they need to be done on both the upper and lower control arms?
