Anyone the original owner of their TJ?

I was the original owner of A tj in 1997. A 4.0l. Sold it a year later. Now I'm the owner of A 98 2.5l.
You, my friend, are one of the only TJ owners I have heard of who went from a 4.0 to a 2.5. Willingly, that is.

My story is the opposite. 1997 2.5 brand new, sold a year later to buy a 4.0.

I paid $28,000 for my TJ in 1997. I paid $2,400 for my 98 TJ last summer. I really don't care what engine it has in it for 2400 bucks since it's in more or less good condition. Even the same color I had in 97.

Reminds nds me not to think about what I paid for 2006 lj rubi in 2007 new off the lot then started adding things- oh to be single with no kids then... married with %yeo kids 10 years now - just coming back to the Jeep.

1998 2.5 108k. Garaged. DD for first 10 years. Sat until last year when I found out that you could change things like shocks springs stabilizers disconnects bumpers add a winch and like that...all by myself...life is good

I would have been the original owner if my previous '97 TJ I bought new 5/22/96 hadn't been stolen ten years ago. Nope I am not the original owner of the 2004 TJ I bought as a replacement.
Since you owned a new ‘97 I am hoping you can answer a question for me. I want to know if the TJ came with a running light/front blinker. My 1998 doesn’t have the stock blinkers and they are only blinkers. Would like to put combo in but want to know if the wiring is there for it.

original owner here.. bought it in montreal in 2000. it'll be my son's once he's of driving age.. good thing i've got a decade of it being my daily driver left! :)

I'm the second owner of my 06 LJ Rubi. Original owner kept it till 2016. I will probably hit 50K miles this weekend in it.

My wife bought ours new in 2005, now has ~130k miles. still can go out and start it anytime... it maybe gets 1000 miles a year now, in fact the BFG All terrains (I think KO's, they look like them, but no "KO" on them) still have 3/4 tread, but will need replacing fairly soon, as the tires are starting to check. (Put them on 7 years ago...)

Original owner as well. Ordered mine in October of '97 and picked it up on 10 Jan '98. Sahara with a 5 speed, and I used it for a DD until 2012. I still have all of the original paperwork from the dealership and all of the maintenance records and receipts.

Taught both of my kids to drive it when they were each 13 years old, and both DD'd it during their high school years. Well, my son is a senior in HS currently and is DDing it now, though school is at home. This Jeep is definitely an OG family member.

Yes mine did, the turn signal housings on the front of the fenders blinked and stayed on at night. I still use the OE wiring and bulb socket that I moved into a JK bulb housing mounted in the front grill.

Did it ever get recovered in one piece or is it likely living it's life out in Mexico somewhere?

Wow, that's a lot! I paid an even $22K out-the-door for my brand-new fully loaded (a/c, Tracloc, ABS, 30" tire and aluminum wheel package, etc.) 1997 TJ 4.0 I bought in March 1996..
Agreed-mine was $21,333 out the door with both tops, a/c, cruise, and 30" Gamblers, plus the add-a-trunk. I will see if I can post a pic of the window sticker, but not everything is listed as the dealer added the soft top and the trunk.
