Mopar Radiator 55037653AC & Automatic Transmission Radiator Fittings

Looking for some guidance on finding the barbed fittings that the automatic transmission cooler lines would plug into on this Mopar radiator, 55037653AC. The radiator is new but they sent it without the fittings the cooler hoses would hook onto and the old radiator uses a thread in style and the threads of course are different. I looked it up on the Mopar fiche and they don't even show the fittings, only the line assembly which I don't need. the image below shows the bungs, I need the inserts that go into those.

If anyone has the part numbers for these or can get me some guidance where to find them it would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have the part number, but I just bought one of those fittings back in November. I only needed the clip, but I had to buy the fitting to get the clip. I bought it at a local Chrysler/Jeep dealer. They had it on their shelf. I only used the clip, so I don't know if the threads are the same

It seems that fitting was used in multiple Chrysler products.

I edited my post. I never used the fitting, so I don't know if the threads are the same, but I told them it was for a 2005 Jeep TJ Unlimited.

It’s the part that pushes into this that the other end has a barbed hose “stem” if that makes sense.

I'd be curious how this turns out because I plan to get the Mopar radiator in the spring and had to change the transmission line fittings when I replaced the radiator a few years ago. I ended up needing Dorman 800-605 for my '05 LJ.

Looks like the post from @MountaineerTom has the fitting I need. You should be able to do the same unless you keep the one piece line.

I purchased this same radiator for my 1998 model a few years ago, and it required 2 of these [Mopar] fittings:

These are designed for a rubber hose to clamp to, and then the hose clamps to the hard line part of the transmission cooler hose.

These are designed for a rubber hose to clamp to, and then the hose clamps to the hard line part of the transmission cooler hose.
I found these as well but they won’t work as the flange has to stay in place with the new radiator. The flange holds the transmission cooler tank in the actual radiator as well as sealing the fitting into the radiator.
 
This has been a bit of a run around for me so this info should probably be added to the “how to” section for the radiator swap. @Chris

Unfortunately nobody in the town I live had these fittings so I had to order them. The fittings are a Hayden 397 and anyone with the older style automatic radiator that has the hose nipple style will need them. The newer models have the quick connect lines so you should be good.

In a pinch you can do what I did which is stop at you local auto repair shop or transmission shop and pick up 2 GM style transmission lines that have this style of connector. I then simply cut off the end piece with the Hayden 397 quick connect, de-burred them and cleaned them out and am now up and running. I’ll swap them for the actual Hayden 397s when they arrive so I have the proper setup but this got me going for now.

I don’t know the cut off year, but earlier TJ’s used hoses slipped over barbed fittings on the radiator. Later years had the quick disconnect fittings. The rubber hoses going to the transmission has metal tubes crimped on like shown in @AjRagno ’s picture.

The Hayden 397 part allows you to connect a rubber hose directly to it with a clamp and then it fits in the quick disconnect fittings on the newer model TJ radiators.

I’m 100% with you but when I checked the part number with Mopar they ALL supersede to one number which is the one I have with the quick connects. Their solution was to buy the also superseded part number for all new transmission lines that have the quick connects. Lame

They may not make the older radiators anymore. The newer lines is definitely an option, but that Hayden part is much cheaper and accomplished the same thing.
 
55037653AB has hose barb fittings on the radiator. 97-04.

55037653AC has quick disconnect fittings on the radiator. 05-06.

These are both current parts you can purchase from Mopar. The OP just purchased the wrong radiator for his jeep. But it really doesnt matter because all it takes is 2 fittings to put into the quick disconnects and he is up and running.
