What did you do to your TJ today?

Yesterday I did U joints in the rear driveshaft.

Today I fixed the console lid. It had a split down the middle. I flipped it upside down and filled the cracked area from behind with epoxy. Then I put some foam upholstery padding on it and a leather cover I got off Amazon. Looks 100% better and is 1000% more comfortable!

Tomorrow the front driveshaft will get new u joints.
That looks really nice

This is the one I got. Solid black with silver thread.

Hilariously enough it says Made in USA all over it but I watched the tracking all the way from Gdańsk Poland. Whatever.

It came with an elastic band to mount it which would probably be good enough. But I added some foam padding underneath and stretched the cover tight securing it under the edge with contact cement.

Bought a bunch of original ads and LJ literature to keep or maybe frame and hang up in the shop.

The spec sheet given to buyers in 2004:

An LJ ad from a 2005 issue of GQ:

A 2 page dynomax ad that is my personal favorite:

And this LJ sponge which is ridiculous yet intriguing enough to buy. You add water and it lengthens. Not sure where this was sold or if it was a promo item but there are a bunch of them online:

What size ( body + susp. )/ brand lift you have installed ?
- I really like the looks of your rig 👍🏿
The lift is an old pre bankruptcy rubicon express 4.5" short arm lift with a 1" body lift.
i have no idea who made the body lift as it was done by the PO but they are aluminum pucks.

the lift has been on the jeep since before it even had a thousand miles but had the 3.5" springs with 33" tires.
i had to replace the rubber bushings a few years back at roughly 85k miles(currently around 112k)

Got the cruise wires routed into the cab, put in loom, etc. Now I just have 5 wires to connect, and every single one of them is a royal pain in the ass for one reason or another. I'm gonna see if the wires from the brake switch appear up behind the (removed) instrument cluster, as I sure as hell don't want to try splicing at the switch itself unless there's no other way. Looks like I'd have to pull the driver's seat to be able to get my head under the dash to get to the switch...

You should be able to remove the panel below the steering column to access the break switch. That should relieve some of the body contortions.

‘So cheap & easy it’s hardly worth mentioning, but here it is. I replaced the 1156 bulbs in the back-up lights with Sylvania LED bulbs for around $25.00.
The before & after pics don’t really show much, just the difference in color, but they really do put out more usable light.

Dude, you really need to catch the guy that keeps bombin' your house with black spray paint! 😆 😆

Decided to remove the LJ from garage queen/museum piece status, and drive it to our place in Baja. 2700 miles, 50 mph to match the speed of our overland vehicle. Killed me to add that many miles!
Over the course of the trip, the front end loosened up a bit, and turning the steering wheel at slow speeds or in place, I heard this creaking/cracking noise. Had wife turn wheel as I listened, and thought power steering gear. We were almost here by then so didn’t do anything.
Finally took the time, found out driver side tie rod end was dry, ordered a new one. ZJ upgrade, installed, no happiness. Found out after, the RE front track bar bracket was slightly loose on frame. Whew, no expensive steering gear replacement in our near future! 6201F0D4-E9A5-4815-8C95-199E574B9589.jpeg

Now get yourself some aluminum duct tape and cover the inside of the housing to reflect all that light back out.

Gave Ruby some new plugs today, I have had this jeep for about a year and a half and seemed to run fine. But was on Amazon and thought how about some new plugs. Ruby have about 120 k on her how long do you think these have been in?

I hope you didn't buy those plugs again. There are much better choices out there. I only use the Autolite XP-985 iridium plugs in my 2000-06' Jeeps. Change them once and they'll outlive your Jeep.
