The unprecedented weather that has recently been unleashed on North Texas has impacted us in many different ways. Prior to the onset of the weather, I came down with COVID and was secluded to the bedroom for a week prior to the storm. One thing I was unable to do was to ensure that my cattle had enough hay. My wife had found someone local that could drop off a round bale for us and while he was in the pasture, he was unable to climb up the very minimal incline out of the pasture. Who would have thought, my daughter's (mine) wrangler would have been all that was needed to get him off the ice and to the safety of a crushed rock drive. I will say, though nothing serious... it was amazing to pull him out.

Great Job!! Just a tip, next time pull going forward, not in reverse. The gears for reverse aren't meant to handle that kind of load.
Definitely aware but I have nothing but a stock bumper on the rear and absolutely zero points on the rear to tie off to. Otherwise, I would have pulled going forward.

Get one of these. Just have to drill one hole in the frame next to an already existing one and boom you have a rear hook. It is a bit of a pain in the ass fishing the nuts up through the frame hole. Here is a picture I saved of a previous thread discussing it.

I've had to pull my truck (8,500lbs) home before with my TJ, but luckily it ended up being a simple section of bad wiring and a blown fuse that killed my lift pump. Pulling that truck really made me want an Atlas or a Granny gear. Even in 4lo the Wrangler is just so fast.

Btw, I've got a shackle thing that goes into my hitch receiver. Though I do have to pull in reverse, moving farm stuff or vehicles every so often and often pull in reverse, which is actually my slowest method. I've got almost 300k mi on this transmission I think and so far, even with the diesel it's been ok, but I do try to baby it.

Or, if you have a receiver, insert the loop of your strap into the receiver, and run the pin through the strap loop...
