What did you do to your TJ today?

An experiment. I used to keep my CB Mic on a magnet mount on the roof of my F-250 without any problems. So I'll see how well this works in a Jeep on rough terrain. If they're too obnoxious, I'll put conventional mic holders on these back flanges for trail use, and use the magnets only on the road.

Naw, you're good, since you trimmed the zipty's

This weekend, I got a P0016 CEL, meaning the cam position sensor is out of sync with the crankshaft position sensor. That sounded like the OPDA to me, and luckily I had a new Crown replacement ready to put in. When I started to remove the old one, I realized immediately that the bolt holding it down was loose! I could rotate the housing left and right a little bit, and turn the bolt with my fingers. Do you suppose that would cause a CEL, lol? I'm lucky it didn't do any serious damage. (There had been no monkey sounds or symptoms before the CEL.)

Today, I installed the new Crown OPDA, and kept the OEM sensor as everyone suggests. It seems like there is the faintest bit of wear on the OEM gear, but it doesn't look as bad as some others I've seen on here. [It's just a shiny spot. This picture makes it look like the metal has worn away a lot, which I don't think it has.]

Anyway, I cranked her up, no CEL, and she's running fine. Problem (hopefully) solved.

Def!
The ecu expects the cmp pulse to time up with the ckp pulse in a certain pattern. If the cmp is moving around it will trigger the out of sync code

Just put in my new Trektop NX for the summer. My wife was tired of helping me take the hardtop on and off. I considered rigging up a lift in my garage, but this seemed like a good excuse to get a soft top for the summer.
I have the same soft top and I couldn’t be more happy I got it! It was pricey but so worth it IMO!

I see this talked about often. At what point is this cable shifter necessary?

I‘m not expert but I would say necessary whenever stock linkage starts to give you trouble. A good option over clunky stock setup, always.

For me it was after body and motor mount lifts that stock linkage started to bind. Since then cable has made easy to adjust when made other changes.

Left on the dreadful Monday morning ride to work today. Sitting at a stop sign and rpm's climbed to about 2800. Watching the tach, I realized the cel went out. Idled like that a few more times on the way. Left work went straight to emissions testing and it passed. Yay! Didn't high idle though. Strange day.
Strange indeed.
