I drove 10 hours yesterday to get some half doors, here’s why...

$300 price was nice but main reason was the pair has agate color interior.

Of all TJs, 1997-2006, less than half of those years had agate avilable (99-02). Of those, I figure less than half of them had half doors. Of those, guessing maybe half had spice interior. So it’s not the easiest thing in the world to find...half of half of half. 1 out of 8?

So, I finally got my interior matching panels. It was a bonus that the exterior color is the same as my Jeep but the whole Jeep needs a paint job so that doesn’t matter a whole lot.

The negative is a bit of rust on the bottom seam where the inner and outer door skins match but oh well. What can you do when looking for 20 year old car parts in the midwest?

I already have half doors that I acquired 10+ years ago but they came with spice interior that I spray painted black with Motorcraft interior paint but I was never 100% happy with it. I might swap the panels with my current half doors that are in good shape rust-wise.

Moral of the story: if you are searching for used half doors, find some that have the correct interior. The exterior color can be changed “easily” but interior not so much.

Oh I do, i remove my flares and paint them, the ones I got with my half doors are not cracked just been painted a couple times don’t think they will turn out too good
I just bought new flares for my twin sons rig. At $125 it’s worth it over doing it right and paying $75 for the supplies. I think Chris used 8 cans of SEM, which well exceeds $125.

8 cans of SEM! Thats insane. I used about half a can on one flare and it looks perfect.

Just run a half door on the drivers side and full door on the passenger

Lol she likes half doors, but not for the price. She is of the camp, doors or no doors lol. She knows eventually I will buy some and piss her off. She just let me overhaul the suspension so I need to wait a bit longer

Half doors is probably one of my favorite things on the Jeep, so long as it is just driving around town in nice weather. I would not be a fan of half doors for freeway commuting.

I like the look of half doors with the top on too...

My wife didn't care about the cost of half doors. However, when I tried to drive with my teenage daughters in a door-less Jeep the wife acted like I offered them Don Julio tequila shots.

Funny how that works isn’t it? My wife doesn’t care if the entire crew is in there with no top and no doors ironically

My wife likes driving with no doors at all, but on the interstate I think the wind noise/buffeting is annoying as all get out. With the half doors on it seems like you just have the window rolled down.

And it looks so solid with the half doors on there.

I bought white doors and ended up having to scrap the driver side shell. Replaced it with a Key Parts shell and the quality of the steel door is top notch. Once painted and assembled you can't tell which is the OEM.

The interior panels were scuffed and had some rubberized coating the PO had globbed on it. Once that was all cleaned up I followed the prep instructions and used the LVP with the adhesion primer. Doors look brand new.

Tons of time, tons of $$ — all completely worth it.

My drivers half door panel is pretty messed up. I did not know anyone sold shells. I will look into that!

Half doors wouldn’t be special if everyone could build them, but it amazes me they don’t sell the parts. It seems like they sell just about everything else!
