Hey Everyone!

So i seemed to have solved my Death wobble with a new adjustable track bar and new ball joints, lower control arms and upper control arm bushings. But the steering is still all over the road. its fine over bumps though.

2.5 inch suspension 1 inch body lift and 33X12.5X15 BFGoodrich tires.

Here are my alighemnt specs, It looks like my caster is way too high, i don't really get drivelive vibes though not sure if that's an issue, also does the toe look ok? Looks like .02 degrees. I know it should be between 1/8 and 1/16 of an inch but I'm not familiar with reading these sheets.

The up/down play on the ball joint is ok. As long as there is no other play. How does it drive after the alignment and rebalance?

Holy crap! I did a DIY alignment and tightened my track bar bolt to fix my DW. 🤫

Ha this is my daily driver so i really wanted to get it checked out so this issue didn't last too long.

It drives wayyy better after the tires are balanced, no more shimmy at all. It doesn't pull, and now it doesn't bump steer or wobble when I go over bumps, I attribute that mostly to the new track bar though.

I had the PSI at around 30, but im still playing around with it.

The only thing is that the wheel like REALLY gives way with the camber of the road, like any little change in the curve or camber of the road and the wheel will give with it, it doesn't make the vehicle turn or dart , it just feels sloppy if I'm resting 1 hand on it while I'm driving. I was at first attributing that to just having larger tires in general but I'm nots sure. Wouldn't my high caster make the steering tighter or is there a point of no return?

That small of a lift shouldn't cause ANY issues like you described. Do you have adjustable control arms? Are your tires unevenly worn or bald? I lifted my XJ 5.5" and had those exact same symptoms. My toe-in was off. I adjusted it and back to one finger, high speed steering. None of my TJs ever did that. You should check the alignment yourself with a tape measure. SO easy to align it yourself in 10 minutes.
p.s.
R.I.P. 99' XJ. I want you back.🥰

Beautiful Xj btw :)

Tire are completely new just got them less than a week ago, it seems like they adjusted the Toe in to .22 degrees which seems fine i know you want it around .30 I'm not sure how to translate the .22 to inches. And yeah i have all adjustable control arms.

@CharlesHS
Yup caster should be between 6-8 I think usually although they say it should be less with a lift, i had bump steer when my caster was around 5.5 degrees but i figure i over corrected it to 9 now, ill just do a couple turns on the lower contorl arms and fix that.

Thanks. I want it back now. Good call and that's the reason I stick to the extremely long lasting, stock control arms. I don't like to create problems that aren't there. The K.I.S.S. method works best.

Hey, nice Jeep!

I live down the street from this shop and always wondered how their service was.

Ha! Its a really nice area.

Yeah they said they do 20-30 Jeeps a month, they had 2 YJ's there while i was getting serviced, really nice people and they stayed a couple hours later then they should for me because i had them replace my upper control arm bushings and they were stuck in there tight.

There about 30 minutes from me but when I was googling places that do lots of Jeep service they were the first that came up and then another shop that does aftermarket setups in Warren.
