Rubicon rear locker light with aftermarket locker

Been searching but I haven't found an answer. With a ARB locker in the rear the "rear locker" light on the dash flashes non stop while using the front OEM locker. Not a big deal but distracting. Any hack to make the rear locker light stay on or just not come on at all. The ARB locker and compressor are wired through my switch pro.

Before I start scratching my head looking at the wiring diagram all day just wondering if someone has addressed this with any success.

Thanks!

There should be a couple wires hanging at the rear differential.
The blinking light indicates its waiting for the locker enabled signal.
Download the PDF of the FSM for your year TJ and look at Section 8W31-11,12,13 for the wiring.
The wires should be a 20 gauge black wire and a Violet/Light blue for the switch.

Be aware that permanently connecting the locker sensor wiring together in an effort to fool the computer won't work, that just causes the locker lights to blink continually no matter what.

Mine blinks for the same reason, figured I’d screw shit up more trying to fix it so it just blinks at me…if you manage to fix it please update. Thanks

I have learned to like mine flashing at me while my axles are locked up, it adds to the excitement. :ROFLMAO:
Well if you haven’t fixed it Jerry then my guess is it ain’t worth fixing 😉

Hey Jerry

Do you know what is causing the light to blink. I didn’t install the locker so I’m not familiar with the wiring. Does the ARB not have all the proper hook ups? Just curious

The light gets the signal from the sensor in the side of the diff. It is a plunger that when extended, closes the circuit and stops the light from blinking. There is no way to hook up the sensor to work with the ARB since the seal housing is what engages the locker unlike the OEM version which has an external actuator with a flange for the sensor.

Add a relay. The relay contacts bridge the factory locker senor terminals. Use the power from the rear locker pump to throw the relay. That way every time the computer tries to lock the rear locker it thinks it locks right away. If you want you can also use the locker pump power to activate the locker and ditch the ARB switch all together but I can't imagine anybody wanting to do that. If you still keep the ARB switch obviously the rear locker part on the dash wont really tell you anything but at least it will only flash when the front is engaging.

I think I’ll go Jerry’s route, blinking means on. If I get stuck I’ll know it’s off😂
As above, I grew to like the blinking. I could have come up with a circuit to fool the computer so it wouldn't ever flash but the reward of that extra work would have been too little to make the extra effort worthwhile. And the fewer relays in my TJ the better I like it. K.I.S.S. :)

I installed a low pressure switch in a tee of the ARB line. My method doesn’t let you know that the locker is physically engaged, but it does allow the dash light and factory locker system to work as designed. Works great for me. Just cut the wires at the sensor and reattach them on the low pressure switch.
