    What resulted from the angle being pointed too far forward? The same angled bracket gets used with TJs and Unlimiteds both with and without raised bellies. That's a wide range of pinion angles that don't all point at the same up at ride height.

    The angle is designed to keep the axle side track bar bracket away from the rear upper shock mount/crossmember after raising the pinion, whatever angle and axle position that is. Knowing myself and how I would build an LJ with a 4" spring lift, the presumption would be a double cardan rear...

    Being a Rubicon is irrelevant. If the rear driveshaft needs to be a double cardan with the rear pinion raised, then you need the rear track bar angled relocation bracket.

    Hopefully you reconnect before a trail run starts and also remember to do so. I have been in more than a few moments where it would be quite scary and very dangerous to have anyone open the hood and mess with battery cables just to send power to the winch.

    It helps to use shims between the gate and body to position the gate within the opening and also preload some extra height before the weight of the tire gets added in.

    There is adjustment available on both ends of the hinges.

    If the hinges are setup correctly on both ends, there is no dropping of the gate. The tricky part is building everything without the weight of the tire so that the tire weight sinks the gate down to where it belongs. It takes several attempts.

    That isn't going to damage the tire. What matters just as much, if not more, is the bottom snubber attached to the tub. That is the only thing that stops the entire gate from bouncing and rattling and breaking apart.

    If the rear control arms are factory with a 4" spring lift and the shocks are long enough to bind the driveshaft at full extension, it isn't the u-joint's fault or Rough Country's fault that something broke.

    Post a pic of the pinion yoke. That is not normal damage and much of it looks fresh.
