Securing Jeep to a U-Haul car hauler

Back in Jan '21 when I moved from CA to FL; I rented a U Haul moving truck and trailer. I strapped the front and rear tires with the U Haul tire straps and placed a chain over the front and rear axles, Each time I stopped for fuel/food I checked the trailer axle bearing temperatures and verified...

    Transfer case failure?

When you state you were driving and heard a horrid snap; was this off road or on the asphalt ? With the tires chocked you need to climb under the Jeep and inspect the front and rear driveshafts, the transfercase driveshaft output yokes, the crossmember (bolts) and some pictures for forum...

    Unusual electrical question

To either rule them out or confirm they are the problem; I would inspect the ground connections below the dashboard in the drivers and passenger side foot wells, the ground connections under the lower dashboard speaker mounting screws and the ground connection behind the climate control bezel...

    What is this broken line?

The black and white plastic is a check valve that closes when the engines vacuum decreases during heavy acceleration. The broken poly tubing on the outlet side of the check valve is supposed to be routed thru the black sponge material between where the heater hoses and A/C lines. You need to...

    Removable arm rest

Several years ago I purchased these Misch door handles. They replace the flexible pull handle and are screwed to the door using the factory mounting holes. The handles are quite durable and a great elbow rest on long trips.

Cigarette lighter and auxiliary power outlet not working properly

You should disassemble and remove the bezel for the switches and power receptacles to inspect the wiring harness connector. The connector may have melted due to the excessive amperage drawn by the compressor.

    Mouse Misery

Between all the stray cats and Cobra's we have in the rural area I live overseas (Philippines); rarely do you see any mice. Occasionally you see a Rat near the river, but they are usually as large as a cat so the Cobra's will take care of them too.

No start no click at the trail. Cranks at home

When you are airing up after leaving the trail; you should always have the engine running. The amount of amperage drawn by a loaded compressor will draw down even a good battery depending upon air up time.

Valvetrain noise when at operating temperature

One of the lifters may not be staying full pumped up when it warms up causing the ticking sound. I agree with Mac that you should remove the valve cover after the engine has warmed up (very hot) to do an inspection for pushrod(s) that are loose or a roller rocker that has a problem. The 4.0L...

Tail lights and interior lighting not functioning

Verify the grounding connections on passenger and drivers side near the back of the headlights on the radiator support are clean and tight. Since you already replaced the MFS; you should inspect the wiring harness and connector for signs of overheating and oxidation on terminals.

    Strange sound, timing chain?

A seal is pressed into the timing chain cover opening which seals the harmonic balancer hub so oil doesn't leak out while the crankshaft and harmonic balancer are spinning. Be careful when removing the seal from the timing chain cover so you do not damage the recessed area that the seal is...

    Strange sound, timing chain?

Once you remove the harmonic balancer/hub as others recommended; replace the timing chain cover hub seal and DONOT attempt to press on the new harmonic balancer using the existing hub bolt or you risk the chance of stripping out the internal threads of the crankshaft. Use a piece of all thread...
