Adding AC to my '99 TJ - the junkyard build!

Couple of photos of the evap core showing the mounting clips for what I presume was the filter and a close of up of a few fragments that were left.

Adding AC to my '99 TJ - the junkyard build!

The blower motor is in exactly the same spot as the one in my '99 so I reckon I might have dodged a bullet there! Everything seems to line up.

Adding AC to my '99 TJ - the junkyard build!

So far so good - pulled the unit apart to clean out the collected leaves etc and the evaporator core and heater core both look to be in good condition and all the flaps move easily with no issues. The unit doesnt look like the ones in the images above, its a mirror version for the RHD. The...

Adding AC to my '99 TJ - the junkyard build!

Hey TJ4JIM - could you elaborate on what you reckon the difference would be? To clarify, I now have two complete HEVAC modules including everything shown in the diagrams below - the '99 is still in the Jeep and the new one is waiting to be swapped in. I am waiting on confirmation from the...

Adding AC to my '99 TJ - the junkyard build!

So with Summer just around the corner and 110F days here in Western Australia common I figured its time to install AC into my '99 Sport. I found a local Jeep wrecker who seems to know his stuff, I read up on the parts lists for the '99 and the Jeepair guides and went picking parts. So what I...

DIY door cards for full doors?

Couple of pics of the drivers side (RHD) door from the outside and the passenger side from the inside. As you can see, pretty dusty and a few small scrapes on the exterior but will come up a treat once repainted. Inside...not so much! I'm thinking of building up a card using that expanded PVC...

DIY door cards for full doors?

Just picked up a pair of full size doors to complete my Lego collection of TJ parts! They were in a rolled Jeep so have some cosmetic scratches on the exterior but given I have to repaint them anyway, all good. The interior, not so much. Both door cards are missing along with the window...

Can you fit a winch on the factory front bumper?

@Fishtaco I ordered my winch plate today from eBay - $79 delivered to Perth. May need a slight mod or two but should be OK. Dominator Extreme 12000lb winch from Kings 4WD for $350 today from their Malaga store and that's all that's needed. Like you, I prefer the look of the original bumper...

4.0 intake manifold incorrect installation procedure

Everyone talks about this being such a difficult job but apart from being a bit fiddly I didnt find swapping out the manifold to be that difficult? A few sore knuckles sure but my tool kit isn't that extensive and I managed to get everything into place with only a standard 3/8 socket set and a...

Jeepair A/C kits don't fit RHD?

1999 TJ RHD Aussie Spec with no factory AC fitted. Finding it almost impossible to find a wrecked '99 for a donor AC system and the kits from other years definitely doesn't fit so went to Jeepair. They say their '99 kit won't fit a RHD vehicle? Anyone know what the issue would be? I've got a...

Installing a bypass switch for the lights & door sensors

Thanks Kiwi - that was what I was going to do but thought maybe someone had a more elegant solution!

Installing a bypass switch for the lights & door sensors

Finally got around to upgrading the interior light in my TJ to an LED and fixing the door switches so now the lights and warning sounds with the doors open all work perfectly! Question now is, has anyone installed a bypass switch so that I can disable these functions quickly and easily...

    Front tire, outside edge wear

Given you can make a tyre alignment kit in about 10 minutes out of a tape measure, a couple of lengths of 2x1 sticks and a pair of old elastic cargo straps I would be doing that in the first instance and seeing what you have. My pax side tyre was completely blown out and it was all down to toe in.

Removing drivers seat - bolts not clearing the frame - tilt jammed?

OK problem solved! There is something jamming the seat tilt mechanism managed to get it to tilt forward after some crunching around now the bolts are clear. Thanks for helping me explain the problem out loud as that helped my brain figure it out! Rubber chicken for the win...

Removing drivers seat - bolts not clearing the frame - tilt jammed?

Hi Guys, today's project is installing some underfloor insulation. Removed the pax (left hand) side seat dead easy. Drivers side, not so much! Like all TJ's, it has 3 x M3 bolts and 1 x T50 Torx on the rear inner side. The two front bolts zipped out dead easy but for the life of me I cannot...

    Swapping A/C from a 2003 into a 1999 TJ

Thanks guys, I was going to order a new kit straight up from Jeepair but a) they dont have the 99 kits in stock and b) freight to Aus is eye watering. I might pass on this swap, if it was just a bracket or two it would have been OK but it sounds like a lot more work than that.

    3D printable pods for 5.25" in-dash speakers

Any chance you could let us have the .stl files Obi-Wan? Would love to print these after some tweaking but my CAD skills aren't great. I can tweak an existing design a bit but not real flash at doing one from scratch!

    Swapping A/C from a 2003 into a 1999 TJ

Bit of a different one here. Mate has a 2003 TJ factory fitted with air that has a failed compressor - something seized in it and stopped him getting home. He has lost all faith in the A/C and directed his mechanic to remove the entire A/C system. He's now done that and has removed all the...

Drivers (half) door hard to close - adjusting the rubber seal?

Some photos of the issue. The photo with my fingers visible shows what happens if I manually rotate the top of the canvas - it aligns the rubber better and allows it to seat nicely against the hardtop frame but as soon as I remove my fingers it springs back into place.

Drivers (half) door hard to close - adjusting the rubber seal?

I've tried my best to get the drivers door to close flush with no success. Have bent the top half of the door frame, have removed the canvas skin and carefully tensioned it. The issue isnt so much the top of the door frame sitting in the wrong spot as the rubber seal being "twisted" in place so...
