Hi All More joys with the 02 sensors....yesterday I had P1053 come a long to celebrate life with me..... The following was done as it was done with P1033.... Both of the upstream sensor alerts have now been coded out of the PCM as well (P1033 and P1053 which are the codes for the 2 upstream 02...

I also had this whole drama.... Mine looked like the photo below.... Took it to a really hi tech tuning place and they unchecked a couple of boxes on the laptop connected to my car and yay problem solved....

Hi all..... I have had the cat problem with my 04 4l..... This is what happened.... They remeoved all the cats which were just burnt out lumps of black coal and removed the third cat as well which was clogged with the stuff from the other 2 cats.... To do all this without it throwing codes it...

So it is finally finally fixed..... The cats had completely broken up in the exhaust and were blocking up the whole system. That was problem no. 1. To solve that I had to do the software where they just write the 2 downstream sensors out of the PCM, remove all traces of the broken up burnt out...

The saga continues..... Replaced both upstream sensors with the ngk ones but they had to cut the wires and solder them on to the old plugs as thw plugs didnt fit. I was ok with this at first as the light was off. Later on on it went again. So i took it to yet another garage who specialise in...

So i have it booked in tomorrow to replace the o2 sensors and clean the injectors and low and behold this evening the dreaded light suddenly went off! All on its own.... It probably means whatever it is is on its way out.... Which confirms to me that it most likely o2 sensors...

I have no idea what it looks like... Although the exhaust guyvsaid its more like a sensor than a box so yes.... More like that pic from amazon....

Hi All..... Latest update.......yet another story but one that makes sense at least. A friend of mine has an Audi R8 which had a similar problem as my car. He was told by the dealerships that the car could not be fixed and needed at new PCM which basically costs nearly what the car is worth and...

So..... Update....... The pcm cannot be accessed..... Its simply not possible.... So now its option 1 ti figure out if the cats are there andif they are start with the o2 sensors..... A further option is to override the system with an aftermarket ecm fitted that only manages the engine...

An update on my situation........ Took my car to a really great exhaust place. They told me the cats had been removed at some point (WHY????????) and the cat foolers are no longer working hence the codes being thrown out as the PCM is now looking for cats that are not there (see photos of dodgy...

Hi All So I have spoken to more mechanics and they have told me that there are cat foolers on the car which shouldn't be there are that are incorrectly fitted on the wrong sensors (on the rear I think). My question is why would there be cat foolers fitted to the car? Their diagnostic equipment...
