What did you do to your TJ today?

1.25" BL, 1" motor mount lift, and 34x10.50 Interco LTB's. They ride better than my BFGs did, and so much grip! All ya'll need swampers. Just do it.

    Spare tire or not?

I ran over a pop rivet one day in my Mustang a few years back, and I'm awful glad I had a spare- it left a huge hole. Why would I not keep a spare on the Jeep? You never know what might happen. I keep a tire repair kit and small a compressor on me as well for emergencies, but having the spare...

How to install a Derale 20561 transmission cooler on your Wrangler TJ

Maybe it's an LJ issue with the frame being a little different, but this is as far under the skid plate as I could get it. I'm doing a body lift once my new tires come in and I'll rotate the cooler back some then as well. It's already pretty close to the body as it is- 1/4" at most.

Anyone carry any weird gear in their Jeep?

It took awhile to find one that would fit the way I wanted it to. Plenty of plastic ones but I wanted something a little nicer. Once I starting digging into the trailer tongue boxes I started finding stuff. It's a tight fit but I still can use the cup holders and the seats are in a comfortable...

How to install a Derale 20561 transmission cooler on your Wrangler TJ

I probably relocated mine like 4 times trying to get it where I wanted. I ended up forward mounting it because it tucked up under the skid plate better that way. I had to do some engineering to get the thing to fit around the side steps- and it'll be a PITA all over again when I put rock sliders...

Anyone carry any weird gear in their Jeep?

Some C-channel, U-bolts, unistrut and a tool box all bolted together. No drilling required (well, to the Jeep anyway). Not necessarily weird, I just haven't seen it done before.

Is the 42RLE really that bad?

First time I drove it up in the mountains I could smell the tranny fluid cooking. Ever since then I hit the "Overdrive Off" button every time I get it in and I am not afraid of locking it in 2nd or 1st to keep the shift count down. I haven't had any complaints since I started turning OD off...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Uh, my kayak rack is the roll bar on the chassis. (Redneck?) I tie off on the brush guard, the tire carrier, and behind the front doors. Top down of course. I don't have to drive too far (or too fast) to the river. I've seen a few other guys around here do it, and I haven't had any issues yet...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Not so much what I did for the jeep but more about what I did for my back. Jeep assisted kayak hoist (y)

What did you do to your TJ today?

YJ front brake lines. No big deal until the nut stripped out with my box wrench. Kroil working while I put the tea in the bourbon.

Any pictures of a Warn VR8 on a stock TJ Bumper?

https://www.morris4x4center.com/pavement-ends-winch-plate-matte-black-powder-coated-45921-01.html I figured for $17 I could make it work on a stock bumper haha! Sturdy plate. If my memory serves me correctly I think all the bolt holes lined up perfectly. I had to cut the rubber blocks down a...

Any pictures of a Warn VR8 on a stock TJ Bumper?

Well now that this thread got bumped, I'll show my stock bumper rigged up with a bunch of crap: I've got the rope spooled all the way in with one of those overpriced factor 55 nipple things now, I didn't like having the hook hanging that low.

06 LJ help with suspension setup

There’s a Dirt Everyday episode where they figure out lockers are better than pretty much anything else you can do. Looking back, spending a little more for a Rubi makes more sense knowing how much lockers cost haha.

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

Now I dealt with this issue on my Miata, and the new cam sensor did the exact same thing to me. I couldn’t go over 3k rpms and threw a new code on it as well. There is more too that story- I put the original sensor back in after some tinkering (immobilizer issue) and everything worked. Anyway...

Anyone know how to test a camshaft position sensor on a 2006 4.0 TJ?

If it's not the sensor, you've got bigger problems. Go to your local parts store and replace it. If the code clears you're good. If it doesn't well, your timing is off. Also check wiring for wear/shorts.

How do you store your rear seats?

Mine stays in the garage. It's easy enough to latch back in if a bunch of people want to ride. My dog has more room back there with the seats out. He rides back there a lot more than anyone else. A lot easy to throw crap in too, I kind of use the back as a truck bed haha.

06 LJ help with suspension setup

The antirock smoothed everything out, better steering and cornering. Not as rigid on rough dirt roads, feels almost like a progressive sway bar if that makes sense. Seems to do a good job at picking the body up when the terrain gets wonky. That was the big improvement, worth the money I think...

06 LJ help with suspension setup

I do agree with this- don't worry about the control arms unless you want to get a bigger lift. The old folks who previously owned this one just drove it around the beach and wanted to look cool I guess. It worked but wasn't "right." I however like to get weird and wanted something more heavy...

42RLE overheating, overdrive, mountains, manual shifting, and big tires discussion

Done. It runs way more than I thought it would. I'm really glad I did it. Tougher job than it should have been- ever heard of a jiffy fitting? Apparently none of the auto parts stores around here have either. I had to use the tubing cutters and flaring kit to get the lines together haha. I...

42RLE overheating, overdrive, mountains, manual shifting, and big tires discussion

I'm sure it will drive much better with the lower ratio. I just didn't want to end up with the thing shifting all over the place still and not having a decent way to control it. It sounds like the ratio is still the root of the problem here, not the transmission control. The mention of the PCM...
