    Mysterious missing lugnuts

I just got home from getting my TJ towed. I had been deer hunting 8 miles from my house and had been in the deep woods of our property. The road to and from the stand I hunted is pretty rough but I have been in and out the same route for the last couple of weeks. Three miles from the hunting...

Check gauges light (everything is still there!)

My “check gauges” light came on and off a few times coming home from work today and everything is normal gauge wise. It would stay on a couple of minutes and then go off. I do have a USB charger that has a digital volt meter that did get up to 14.2 where it is usually hangs about 13.1 but I...

    Replacing nutserts

That’s what I did. Drilled out the holes and stepped them all up to 1/4-20. Used stainless bolts as well.

    Electric window defroster?

I had to do a heater core bypass a few weeks ago due to the fact that it threw up in my floorboard and out the drain holes. I have AC but I don’t use it much and I plan to replace the heater core (&AC) when I get some time in December. I was wondering if anyone has used an electric window...

    Help removing fender flares

When I replaced my flares, I replaced all my plastic ones with aluminum nutserts and stainless steel bolts (10-24 I think). Bought a nutsert driver and it worked like a charm.

Any side effects on heater core bypass with AC?

Thanks for all the great responses. The heat coming from the floorboard actually does better than the heater itself. I thought about making the bypass permanent but the big problem comes from defrosting the windshield with no heat source. We don’t have it like Floridians but there are a few...

Any side effects on heater core bypass with AC?

It is time to replace the heater core on my TJ. I don’t have the time right now to get to it since it is my DD so I am going to bypass the core to keep the coolant out of the floorboards for now until the weather cools off In the Fall. My general question is, are there any side effects of...

    Cadillac night vision camera

Might be useful to detect a deer or some other large animal before it steps out on the road at night. It would be hard to watch the monitor where it is currently mounted in the video. It would have to be a HUD somehow to actually be an early warning device. Just trying to throw out some ideas...

    Lets see your hood stickers

Cool graphic. You need to add the letter “T” to the end to designate its class.

    Spare tire options

I downsized to 31’s from the original 33’s last year that were on the Jeep when I bought it. I didn’t even think about the spare being a 33 as well and even more surprised my tire guy didn’t bring it up. I have hardly ever had a flat but recently picked up screws in both rear tires (not at the...

What did you do to your TJ today?

Finally got around to putting on some new (wider) flares to replace the cracked up original ones. Should keep the mud off the inside of the hardtop.

    Battery Cages?

I found an aluminum “racing” type bar on amazon or ebay that Is really sturdy and works well. I couldn’t find the link.

    Weird chirping

I had a weird, intermittent chirping that I tracked down using a stethoscope. It turned out to be the the belt tensioner pulley. I shot some machine oil on the bearings and it quieted down. I have a new belt a pulley in the shop if it starts again.

    Negative Battery Terminal Corrosion?

Oddly enough I used those felt washers on both terminals and put grease on them when I installed the new battery. I made sure they were good and tight. I have had no electrical issues but I was surprised to find as much corrosion as I did and only on the negative terminal. A thorough cleaning...

    Negative Battery Terminal Corrosion?

I went through my monthly check of fluids and miscellaneous underhood stuff yesterday and I noticed a lot of corrosion on the negative terminal battery post. I don’t drive it everyday and it has been a lot less with the “corona shutdown” but I haven’t had any starting issues or power related...

Best bang for the buck seat covers?

I had a set of Cabellas Trailgear seat covers in my old F150 that held up well for 10 years. I got a set for the Jeep and they have done well so far (about 5 years now). Good price, decent looks and easy to clean. https://www.cabelas.com/product/CABELAS-TRAIL-GEAR-SEAT-COVERS/1791205.uts?slotId=2

    Anybody made custom subwoofer boxes?

I just made a way overbuilt (coronavirus lock down) toolbox/subwoofer combo. It replaces the seat in the back and sounds way better than I expected. Got 2 10” subs and a Kenwood amp plus room for a bunch of junk. Started off just as a simple toolbox but all this time at home caused it to...

    Startup clunk

Lately I have heard a clunking sound when staring my 01 TJ. It does not appear while normal driving. It sounds like it is coming from the left side front but sometimes sounds like it comes from the rear. I recently changed all the driveshaft ujoints and they seem tight. I checked the motor...
