97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ ECM / PCM Tuning Options

I have been offering custom PCM tuning services for the TJ/LJ since we released the turbo kit. We have been tuning the JTEC and the NGC controllers for over a decade in other platforms. We also tune all the turbo kit installations we do onsite. There's a link in my signature to the website...

Am I the only one who thinks a snorkel on a TJ is crazy?

I don't know, I have personally hydrolocked two engines in the past that both resulted in replacement. In my experience if an engine locks while running there is almost always internal damage of some sort. Both times I was on city streets and not crossing some large river. I wish I would...

    Jezza's Turbo LJ

Probably? I can honestly say I know nothing when it comes to modern diesels. Hp Tuners has support for the E46 PCM, but little to no additional information. It is 6 credits and the PCM has to go to them to be unlocked which is another $400 iirc.

    Jezza's Turbo LJ

That's a problem far far off in the distance. The odds of getting the Duramax running and able to work in the Wrangler are far from good. I can't even connect to the ECM right now as it doesn't have direct communication to the data link connector. So my first list of parts so far are: Serial...

    Jezza's Turbo LJ

I didn't even pay that much for this one.

    Jezza's Turbo LJ

I'm working on that. I have some experience in that area. I need to order a few things to get started so in the meantime it's going in storage.

    Jezza's Turbo LJ

These are about 30# lighter than a 4.0. They also make 300hp and 500 ftl/lb, and in the trucks fuel mileage is in the mid 20s.

    Yep the inline 6 Duramax

    Jezza's Turbo LJ

A possible future project. I picked it up cheap, presumably because no one has been able to swap one yet. I have no plans to do anything with it anytime soon, except to maybe get it running on the stand.

    Turbo vs engine swap

Engine was stock internally. It also had over 200k miles on it. The only other mod was a catback pipe. Boost calculators are BS. 20psi on a little T25 is much different on a GT4202 or a PT118. Banks doesn't care. From what I understand they were having a difficult time getting turbos...

    Turbo vs engine swap

I did the dyno tests. You're right the boost spiked close to 7 and then stabilized at 6.5. I call it 6, you say 7 🤷‍♂️.

    Turbo vs engine swap

Dyno sheets and videos if you feel the need. Banks used an old school now outdated turbo for their kit. The newer stuff is much more efficient and has almost no lag.

    Turbo vs engine swap

I was basing it off of what I know and the data I have which is wheel HP. The stock setup is around 150 wheel and 6 psi on a bone stock engine made 250. So, roughly 70%.

    Turbo vs engine swap

100hp gain on a 4.0 is 70% more power. Hardly a waste of time IMO.

    Stock vs Windstar CFM?

Yes, the kit comes with a new top lid, but retains the lower box and factory filter. We did some crude testing when we were dyno testing the kit. We removed the elbow between the turbo and airbox to see if it would make a difference in power. It did not change the power in our test.

    Stock vs Windstar CFM?

My honest review of the factory airbox. It is not a suitable replacement for traction boards.

    1000+ Horsepower I6 Jeep Engine

Not sure who has all seen this yet, but very impressive numbers put up by Newcomer Racing. All done on a stock block and a blow thru carburetor. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write...

Cooler fuel with a return fuel system

We have been working on a customer's TJ in the shop recently that was having some hard start issues when hot. We did all the typical recommended mods for dealing with under hood heat like the DEI heatshield and fuel rail wrap kit. We also wrapped the header and Y pipe with heat wrap as well as...

    WTB: 2005-2006 Fuel Pump Assembly

Hey Y'all, I'm looking for an old fuel pump module for a 2005 or 2006 TJ or LJ Wrangler. I don't need it to work at all. I do need it to have the level sensor. I would like it to be a Mopar part. I'm only going to be using it for measurements. If you have one that you replaced and are going...

    Coolant Filter Cut Apart

Hey y'all, I installed a coolant filter setup a few months ago on the 2005 LJ. My plan was to run it for a few thousand miles, then cut it open and see what it caught or didn't catch. I ended up putting right at 3000 miles on the setup with the filter installed. Pretty shocking the amount of...
