What Jeep stuff did you get for Christmas?

    I got 75° weather for a topless/doorless ride.

Good M/T tires for driving to trail only

Mostly LBL (including Turkey Bay) and Windrock. LBL has a lot of unavoidable mud holes but they are mostly just standing water and not mud, so much. Do you think I would do better with a hybrid or an a/t around here? I’m pretty new to wheeling, so any experience is appreciated. I love Windrock...

Someone please check my planned 2" lift

So, I did the same lift with the rancho shocks. I did NOT do an sye and have zero vibrations. I really don’t think an sye is necessary at this point, but your mileage may vary. I’m also curious about the 2.5” in the rear. Why not 2” on all 4 corners? I added 0.75 spacers up front for leveling...

Time for a lift (I have researched and studied and want your point of view)

I did a piecemeal 2” lift. In truth, my net lift was much more than 2” due to sag from the worn out shocks. This is on what is basically 29.5” a/t’s. 0-2” Rancho 5k’s Pro comp 2” springs 0.75” front leveling spacer JKS disco’s Rear track bar relocation bracket No body lift, mm lift or tuck. I...

Good M/T tires for driving to trail only

I’m liking the options. Keep ‘em coming. These (as well as M.T. and Yoko) all seem to be priced somewhat the same. Do most people just chose based on whatever is on sale, or is there something that will set one apart for you?

Good M/T tires for driving to trail only

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the Goodyear M/TR’s get a lot of love. These hadn’t been on my radar. I’ll look into them for sure.

Good M/T tires for driving to trail only

Hey guys. I know there are a zillion threads about tires, but it’s a dynamic field, so looking for fresh opinions. I don’t daily drive my Jeep. Other than the occasional sunny day cruise, my Jeep only rides to the trail and back. Currently on dry rotted A/T’s but looking for a set of 31”-32”...

    Exhaust Manifold Replacement Walk-Through?

SSTJ, If I’m not mistaken, we both have the 2.5l. I’ve replaced my exhaust manifold several times now. It’s a little intimidating to get started, but once you do it, it’s easy peasy. No need to remove a fender. Just get in there and do if. I like to put painters tape on all the electrical...

What do you love and hate about your local wheeling spots?

To much mud. Not enough public land. Too many side by sides.

Front wheel well liners for TJ 97? do they exist?

I can’t speak for everyone, but my ‘97 SE only has rears. I’ve had them out for a while, but things still clean up.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Slowly taking the ‘97 SE up a factory trim level. After decades of my right arm dangling, finally have some support (and a much needed extra cup holder).

    Door surrounds rattle

Stupid question. Yes, I searched. I took off my full door surrounds for a couple of years. Back on now, and they rattle bad. It’s noisy just pulling out of my paved driveway. I’ve isolated it to where the plastic door surround meets the body on both sides along the B-pillar. I guess I lost some...

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

That is correct. No need for them if you don’t plan to go off road.

Cost to remove a lift kit?

Just playing devils advocate here. I know you said an sye is at the top of your budget, but then you follow up with “I want to do a 4 inch lift a year or two down the line for an overland build...”. Begs the question. If an sye is inevitable and you’ve got the budget (even on top end), why not...

    I hate the carpet!

I find the process of removing and re-installing the carpet in a TJ to be such a simple process that is is part of my regular cleaning routine. I’ll pull it out and soap/pressure wash it in the driveway several times a year. It helps with the dusty, itchy feel of it.

    Lift recommendations for 4 cylinder

I know this thread is old, but I thought I would share some results for others who may run across it. Below is my ‘97 SE with 4.11 gears. I recently installed @Codaman’s “affordable” lift consisting of 0-2” Rancho’s, 2” springs, front leveling spacer, rear track bar bracket, and JKs disco’s...

How much are Rubicon components worth?

Figure out if those axles are bent, determine what your time is worth, then make your decision. Don’t forget after all is final, you will still have an eff’ed up tub/frame to dispose of. Glad to hear the driver is ok.

    Clutch problems

I have no idea, but it’s probably worth getting your brake fluid changed. See if that does the trick.

    Top speed 2.5 with 4:88s and 35s only 60?

Indulge me. I’m trying to learn here. What makes the AX-5 so bad? It’s been great for 190k paired with my 2.5l. Daily driving, off road, it’s never failed me. To be fair, I haven’t driven an ax-15, but I was always under the assumption it was just a stronger version to stand up to the HP of the...

    Top speed 2.5 with 4:88s and 35s only 60?

Sick Jeep man. This is basically my dream build. Love it! what made you switch to the ax-15?
