Sorry @luomo, already sold to OP.

Hooked on a little white Jeep...

Oh no, definitely not. I've got 3.07s at the moment, and I hate them on the stock highway tires (not even 31's, they're like 28.5"). I'm regearing right away. Life's too short to throw away 5th gear :)

Hooked on a little white Jeep...

Only had one upper shock bolt break. Purchased a right angle adapter for my Dremel...Not terribly impressed with the quality but it got the job done. Cut the weld as best I could in the limited space, engineer's hammer and chisel took care of it after that. Got some General Grabber X3...

Hooked on a little white Jeep...

Was moving along today, getting the Rancho shocks installed when SNAP went a rear upper shock mount bolt. Seems like the recommended approach is a dremel and cut-off wheel? Even with the body lift it's pretty tight.

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

Go ahead and add the spacers to the front. When you decrease the rake, seems like you're actually decreasing the rear drivetrain angles and less likely to get vibes. You should be fine!

Hooked on a little white Jeep...

Let's talk shocks! Still have to cycle the front suspension with tires on, but I'm currently at 1.25" of bump. Measuring between the front shock mounts, I have: ~14.5" at bump ~19.75" ride height, with winch/bumper/spare mounted ~24" extended Looks like I should definitely go with the Rancho...

Hooked on a little white Jeep...

After riding around with a buddy in his 2020 JT, I had the bug to start adventuring off-road in harsher environments than my '02 Subaru could handle. I got my sights set on owning a TJ, and building it up just a smidge. A couple weeks later I went to look at a stock stone white 2003 X, with a...

I've got a 1.25" body on the way from Savvy, and some hocky pucks here ready.

    WTB: 1/2 Inch Body Lift

Are you still looking? I've got a brand-new unopened Rokmen 1/2" kit that I need to either return or sell (decided on 33's so I need 1 or 1.25").

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

Yeah but I want the 33's :-) Love the way they look, and I'll love the look on my buddy's face the first time I have to help him through something I drove easily. I've got lockers on the way for my re-gear.

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

Definitely helps, thanks for the data point! I have the Pro Comp springs in my garage...I was originally going to go with 31's but I decided to skip the interim step and go straight to 33's. I've gotta keep up with my buddy in a JT on 37's, on whatever trails he drags me to.

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

Sure, it depends on the weight of your rig. But using the 170 lb/in spring rate given for the Pro Comps, a stock TJ would only be lifted 1.2" in the front. What are close to stock/lightweight rigs getting up front, for example? This can be compared to the computed value to see how close the...

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

So how much suspension lift are people getting from this? Trying to estimate ride height, the only stock front sprung weight I could find is ~1575 lbs, with two 170lb/in springs with 17.87" free length that comes to 13.2 inches nominal height, only 1.2 over stock.

SOLD 2002 TJ built for off-roading

Man, if I hadn't just bought a stock '03 to build up a bit, I'd jump on it. If I could afford it I'd just have two TJ's :-) I'm right around the corner in San Carlos.

    Massachusetts TJ part out

What axles are the lockers for, and what gears are on them now? Thanks!

Replacing axle (for different gear ratio)

Yeah great advice! I'm definitely doing a shortcut pinion seal change. Anything to watch out for on the yoke itself? The pinion bearing on my old driveshaft is shot (that's what kicked off the upgrade process) which probably wasn't great on the 140k-mile old u-joints.

Replacing axle (for different gear ratio)

A super super cheap Dana 35 with 4.10 gears popped up on FB Marketplace just as I was considering a gear swap for my 31-32" tire swap (I've got 3.07 gears!). I'm a sucker for pain, so I snagged it. Concerning the yoke/driveshaft, I'd rather not have to pull the yoke on the replacement...

    Thoughts on Rancho track bar?

Thanks for the replies, y'all. Doesn't take much convincing for me to spend LESS money, so I'll just hold off and try things with the OE trackbar.

    Thoughts on Rancho track bar?

I recently ordered the ProComp 2"/Rancho shocks lift components. I can get the =6&vehicle[liter]=4%2E0&vehicle[submodel]=X&vehicle[model]=Wrangler&vehicle[make]=Jeep&vehicle[year]=2003']Rancho front adjustable trackbar for 2-5" lift height for a reasonable price (and additional 10% back through...

A recipe for an affordable but quality 2.5" lift

I've got the first post parts list in my cart and ready to go, but I've got a question about the ride/feel with the (apparently stiffer) Pro Comp springs versus the light duty OME springs. I generally run my TJ pretty light (stock bumpers, lightweight 60-ish lb winch with synthetic line, no rear...
