    Differential Advice

Folks, Appreciate all the help to-date for a newbie as I have been working to update my new-to-me TJ. Im off on my next quest - differentials. Here's the facts: - 1997 Wrangler Sahara, 4.0L, manual - 33" tires w/2.5" lift - stock Dana 30 front/Dana 35 rear with 3.07 gearing - main purpose is...

    Suspension Questions

Thanks for the responses. While Im doing control arms likely going to look at track bars and ZJ steering upgrade. With a 2.5" spring lift do I need to go to an adjustable track bar to re-align things (Front and Rear?) or will OEM suffice? And what about the pitman arm - looks like in most of...

    Suspension Questions

Thanks folks - I am tearing apart the front end now in preparation for a re-build. I notice a number of posts stating to stick with a stock rear anti-sway and links - is there not benefit to the beefier aftermarket rear sway bars? Also, any recommendations on front/rear upper/lower control...

Another Dana 35 thread: conflicting advise about axle shafts and a gearing question

Interested in general in how one would go about upgrading to Dana 35's - take the vehicle to a shop/order online? Is it a complete swap out of differentials or do you use the same housing and change out the components?

No, the steering is actually quite tight for the age of the vehicle.

    Suspension Questions

Thanks all. Pulled one shock just to see - it is shot. Ordered Rancho's and will see what they do along with new sway bar links/bushings and steering stabilizer. Per imahnu17, will be taking a look at all the other components this weekend. After reading many of the threads here and looking...

    Suspension Questions

Another set of newbie questions. 1997 Wrangler Sahara. I believe it has been lifted 2.5" (14.5" front spring seat-to-seat, 10" back spring seat-to-seat). Two questions: 1) The vehicle rides very loose, like you are on slinky springs - is that generally true of jeeps and/or jeeps with lift...

    Not Charging (ECM Replacement?)

Update: The voltage regulator issue ended up being the PCM. Based on suggestion here, I ordered a rebuilt PCM from wranglerfix.com, installed and we are back in business. Curious what all you folks do in case a PCM goes bad in the back country, carry a spare? Thanks to you all for your help...

    Not Charging (ECM Replacement?)

I do not believe that the black box is a regulator but a molded wire management box. It is hardwired into the harness with no ability to unclip it. Found this post on another forum: https://www.wranglerforum.com/threads/box-on-back-of-alternator.370906/

    Not Charging (ECM Replacement?)

Unfortunately, I am still not able to identify the pins in the back of the alternator. Pulled the alternator again to get the attached image. Only wire connections are the main power lead and the two field leads at the bottom. I cannot discern the color of the wires going to the field leads...

    Not Charging (ECM Replacement?)

As with similar threads on the forum, my check light has come on and the voltage gauge starts low then drops to zero. I have confirmed the battery is not charging. Following advice from the threads I have read through here I have checked the battery, cleaned and re-connected the battery...

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

Hey Folks, appreciate all the responses and commentary - nice to see such a responsive community! Many thanks to all, at least I know what it is now and the options to address! Now I just have to figure out what is going on with my voltage meter going to zero!

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

Thanks all. The breaker is heavily corruded. Should I replace it or go a different direction (shut-off, resetable, direct wire)?

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

Wow! Yes it does. Is this part of the Badlands install?

What is this on the positive terminal of my battery?

Just purchased a 1997 Wrangler Sahara, 4.0/5spd. While driving home the voltage gauge dropped and engine light came on. After reviewing threads here, I am starting the process of cleaning and tightening terminals and grounds, then will look to the alternator. Really hoping it is not the OCM...
