Can't trace weird sound, drive train related, transaxle to the front?

OK, bear with me... Early 97, 4.0 I6, 71k miles At 15mph plus, noisy squeak coming through floorboard, seemingly from centerline of the jeep. I've been driving it a lot this winter after painting, etc. the last year plus. Above 50 degrees rarely happens, 40 degrees and colder mornings...

Two different sizes of idler pulleys (early 97 4.0) and can't find the larger replacement

I'm wondering if this is another oddity from early '97 TJs. The fixed idler pulley (left, near A/C unit) went out so before taking it out I went by the local dealership and had them look up availability on getting both. My VIN is in their system but they always ask for it, no problem...

Coolant leaking coming from the front (is it my water pump?)

Hi all, Driving home the other night and saw a light misting on the windshield. Got home and looked, and saw slow dripping coolant coming down from the front center of the 4.0. Squeeze the upper radiator hose (after it cooled down) and the drip increased, system was not under pressure...

    Removing ABS off early 97

Looking good. That's what I am hoping to accomplish. To the right of the reservoir on mine is a mess of lines and a controller. Fills the space. My engine bay is taped up to paint (the body) but when I pull that off will send a Pic...

    Removing ABS off early 97

Sorry, it isn't blinking, just steady on. Brain fog is my excuse! Been sanding since 4:00 and I can't type :) I have realized that my "early" '97 TJ has unique features. I think you may have told me about the water pump pulley being different.

    Removing ABS off early 97

@Mac could you post a Pic of what it looks like now under the hood. Replacement stainless lines would be a couple $100. Once I finish painting may make that project be next...

    Removing ABS off early 97

Thanks Jerry, I did pull the relay. ABS wasn't working anyway so nothing really changed. Light on the dash is still blinking though. Thanks again for answering. I'm focusing on stripping it down to paint now. Good therapy 😉

    Removing ABS off early 97

So I don't have the ABS rings on the rear axles in my Dana 35 (replaced the axles). My TJ is low miles (69k) and I'd like to remove the "spaghetti" that is the brake lines near the pump. Need to replace the lines sometime I'm sure. Suggestions? Yeah, nah? Thanks! Owen

Different kinds of Fan Clutch assemblies??

Thank you. Hit it solid with a 2 lb and oak shaft as I spun the pulley several times. Looked like a hint of a crack between the pulley and clutch and put an old wood chisel in place. That opened it up finally. Thank you! Owen

Different kinds of Fan Clutch assemblies??

Thanks for the info. So this may be an early TJ - at least an earlier Wrangler setup. Where the nuts are that is a cap on the water pump pully? I tapped on it with a large punch but not hard. BTW found a paper copy of the 97 service manual a few years ago and it wasn't clear either.

Different kinds of Fan Clutch assemblies??

I have been looking and reading notes (and watching YT videos) for how to replace my fan clutch. Well, remove it... Everything I'm seeing shows the big bolt, special tool version. My 97 TJ does not have that setup... Straight six, etc... What am I missing!
