02 TJ shakes on start-up

I tried to search for this issue, but the word "shake" always directs me to deathwobble.

The issue is, about 90% of the time, on start-up the motor shakes and sounds like it wants to die for a few minutes. we just did the plugs and everything else seems to work. no codes on the reader.

Help is appreciated.

I had to replace my IAC valve that had a similar sounding problem. When was the last time you cleaned or replaced the IAC?

If the revs are going up and down then I'd for sure check the IAC

Shaking right after being started as you described makes me think the engine is missing severely.

Along with that missing/shaking, does the engine also take a long time to 'catch' or start after it has been sitting all night or for more than a few hours? The answer to that may help isolate the source of that problem.

It's doesn't hesitate or anything like that. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow. We are going to check the coil and the IAC to see if that does anything. The plugs are recent. My mechanic said maybe a head gasket starting to go out.

Could it possibly be a vacuum leak as well? Check around the throttle body and the intake manifold area.
