03-06 Steering Gear Box Replacement — Assistance Requested

Hello, and TGIF. I am in need of your assistance, please. I own a 2003 TJ Wrangler (Rubicon); 4.0L engine. I've determined (w/the help of a mechanic and Chris) that I will need to replace the steering gear box (it is leaking). Can anyone assist me in determining a good source to purchase a refurbished 03-06 steering gear box (links, websites, etc, etc.)? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

I’m not Blaine but I’m pretty sure the Lares boxes have decent reviews among forum members. Can be purchased new from RockAuto. But if he has an OEM box currently I’d probably get it rebuilt.

I'm in the same boat. looking to possibly upgrading to a psc steering box without the hydraulic parts, but for the strength to roll 35s with a future issue. I'm not sure if the oem steering box should be replaced and is good enough or just wait save and go PSC.

I’d go with Lares 11356 if it was me. They’re new, not reman.

It should be a bannable offense to recommend Rock Auto without also including that warning. They could get a whole bunch better and still suck. Before you order, try and call them up just to chat about how many issues they have with the Lares product line.

Mr.Blaine. From your message, I assume there are concerns with Lares products? Am I reading that correctly?
