Mine fits fine...Is it your wheel pattern? I bought a cheapie adapter from Ebay to put a 5 x 5 bolt pattern, 17" diameter wheel (JK takeoff) on my tire carrier.
It is the lug pattern, I thought it was going to take an adapter. I also switched to JK 17" wheels from the 15" TJ wheels
I've heard of guys redrilling the carrier, but for ~25 bucks on amazon, I just bought a spare adapter, and was done.
