1997 TJ A/C compressor will only take half a charge

just biught a 97 Wrangler, 2.5 with ac. The ac compressor was locked up and they bypassed the compressor with a fan belt for a Jeep without ac. I changed the compressor, dryer, and most all orings. Took it to get vacuumed down and recharged. Held a vacuum great but will only take half a charge. Any ideas?

I would change out the whole liquid line where the Orifice Tube is located (internal to the line) , the PO may have used refrigerant with a leak stop and may have clogged it up. Don't buy just the Orifice because it's not a DIY project to replace. I would also use a refrigerant flush on the evap and condenser coils to confirm they are free and clear.

bleed all the freon, then charge it back to a bottle of fresh freon.
