I have a 1997 TJ Wrangler, and I recently replaced the idle control valve (IA) to fix my engine running rich, it did fix it and ran much better after that. About a week later, all of thr sudden it started running rich again and will not rev past 3k rpm, after 2k rpm I can't push the gas too hard or else the engine begins to richen up and start to die. I replaced the MAP sensor, upstream O2 sensor, and the crankshaft position sensor, none of those had worked. I had checked the codes and cleared them multiple times along the process of replacing the parts. Any help would be great. Its a 2.5L 4 cylinder.
What transmission do you have? If an auto try putting it one below drive and see if it will rev past 3k.
Not knowing how long the engine was running rich or how rich the engine was running; have you checked the catalytic converter for obstructions ?
