1998 TJ vs 2003 TJ

Going into it with his eyes open is all we can help him do. For many regearing to 5.38 is no big deal when knowing an automatic is often, by far, the better choice. I actually converted my first TJ from its original manual to an automatic.

Automatic is by far a better transmission for hardcore rock crawling, sure. For daily driving and all other types of offroading? I'd say half would agree and half would disagree. AX-15 is a great manual tranny. Eyes wide open!

For mostly street driving, transmission is strictly preference. For rocks, there are undeniable advantages to an auto. For other terrain, it's less clear cut and again, back to preference. Some people prefer the joy of rowing their own gears. Some people prefer dudes. To each their own 😉 😆
