If that was being sold in Los Angeles instead of Stockton it would for sure have the odometer run back. If he drove that to LA, with as clean as it looks, rolled the speedometer back and no one would question it. Every swap meet in the city has a guy that will do it for cheap. Even on modern cars. I'm surprised it doesn't just have the gauge cluster swapped.
I refuse to look for used cars in LA for this very reason. Out of maybe 20 Carfaxes I ran over a two year period - only one didn't have odometer fraud. Which means it's cheap and easy to do. And no one is prosecuting it.

I don’t know. It looked decent and not a bad price so thought I’d post it. If someone was serious about I might be able to go look at it, just depends. It’s about an hour from me.
I'm not suggesting it looks bad. Looks very well taken care of. I actually respect the guy for listing what appears to be real mileage. As rampant as odometer theft is in California. I was surprised to see such a nice looking vehicle with such high mileage. Normally it would have the odometer rolled back. And they would be selling it as a pristine low mile car.
You used to be able to buy a used car or a used washer in LA. Not anymore. The more desparate people come here. The more niche markets are being taken over. All the used washers and dryers are snatched up by independant "dealers". Same with cars. And they are all run with a very rude, cutthroat third world mentality. So happy to be moving soon.

If the Carfax has enough records on it over time you can usually match up the mileage. What about Dept of motor vehicle records? Here they record your ODO each year at emissions testing. Not sure what would happen though if you showed up for emissions one year with less miles on the ODO than the year before!
