I’m planning to regear my TJ from 3.73 to 4.10 gear. I have the OEM rear 4.10 gear from a rubicon for my rear Dana 44 and I’m planning to find a OEM Dana 30 set for the front. I’m stuck on the carriers. Will I need different carriers and spider gears for this to work? Thanks for any advise.
 
I think the 44 carrier switches to the larger one at 3.92. If you're just trying to get to 4.10 in the front, the easiest route might be to get a full dana 30 assembly from a 4 cylinder TJ. If you get the full axle assembly you'll just need to bolt it up, otherwise you'll have the down time of dealing with the gear swap.

I don't have a definitive answer, but the bigger question and issue might be getting the rubi gears in a sport 44 housing? Do some more research to find out if there are compatibility issues. My first google search result brought this up (from this link):

post #6 "Rubicon's use a 3 series carrier and subsequently a thicker ring gear. The ring gear bolts are also 7/16's rather than 3/8 in a "regular" 44.

When you say "Rubicon axles" I'm assuming you mean complete assemblies and not just shafts. The diff housing cut on a Rubi 44 is also wider and uses "master" shims on each side of the carrier, outside the races. The housings are NOT the same, in contrast to what someone said above. Distance from housing face to housing face internally for the diff in a Rubicon housing is approx .400 wider than a standard 44. Pass side bearing cap is cut for the rubi air line and a sensor hole is drilled/tapped for the actuator sensor.

If you're shopping ring/pinion you'll need to know if it has the Rubi locker carriers in it or standard 44 carriers before ordering since the gearsets are different. If standard carriers you'll also need to know what gear break carriers are in it to be sure it supports what you want to install. Shafts are the same and only differ as to retaining plates for drum/disc.

Replacing the pass side carrier bearing on a Rubi requires some ingenuity (or a special tool) due to the proximity of the locker air diaphragm. Standard bearing splitter has no clearance. Yukon does make a special tool, hard to justify for a single install ($300)"
 
Not sure what your end game is but going to 4:10's from 3: 73's won't make much of a difference. You might consider 4:56's.
I thought about the 4.56 but I had some guys telling me that I would get better hwy performance and better hwy gas mileage with the 4.10 and still be able to run my 33s. I may do some more research before I decide 100 percent! Thanks for the info!
