2001Wrangler 4.0 fuel pump

I have a 2001 wrangler 4.0 with 163000 miles and the fuel pump keeps failing. I have put three on in last three months, any sugestions on cause also I am having a heat soak problem. I put insulation kit on fuel rail, injectors, and fuel line. I shot my precats with temp gun after engine is heated up, getting 650 on one and 875 on the other. The exhaust is not stopped up are these temps to high? When the jeep is running it runs great, after driving or idiling fo 20minutes or more if you kill the engine it will turn over but not start, have to let engine cool off 30 to 40 minutes.

I put a Brute Power $80 pump on my 97 from Rock Auto. Been a solid 8 months and a road trip from Oregon down the Rubicon Trail and home. Plus a few thousand more miles of back woods scouting for trash.

Possibly a failing crankshaft position sensor being touchy when temps are up. Next time it fails to start try cooling the sensor with water.

How do you know it's the fuel pump that's failing?
