Hi, I have a 2005 TJ 4.0 with a/c that has been having a noise at start up. It would subside then come back intermittently. I initially thought it was the belt and replaced it. I have also changed the idler pulley and the tensioner unit w/pulley. Still no change. Now the sound seems to be coming from the distributor and you can feel the vibration when you touch it. Does the entire unit need to be changed or maybe just a part? Any help/ideas?
Thanks.

It's your OPDA (oil pump drive assembly); your 2005 does not have a distributor. Do a forum search for OPDA issues and you will get about 10,000 hits. (The defect is unique to 05 and 06 model years). You need to replace it immediately. Do not wait. Get a Crown replacement unit. If you wait, it will eventually destroy your engine.

@jjvw is jist trying to confirm what the OP is referring to by having him take a pic of what he thinks is the distributer. Once we know exactly what part OP is referring to we can better diagnose his issue.
