2005 TJ Engine and Transmisson Skid Plate

I am going to put a engine an d transmission skid plate on my 2005 tj Rubicon,4.0, lifted 4in. I would like to retain my oem tc skid.It is a automatic. I have researched many on the web , would like some opinions on the easiest to install. Had to take off the one installed by po because it rubbed my front driveshaft. Thanks in advance. Fast Eddy

Sorry, I misread that. I understand what you are saying now, but I don't have an engine/tranny skid installed, so I won't be much help. Do you know the manufacturer of the one that you removed?

I don't know what is available out there. How much is the one you removed different than the factory original?

Maybe just getting out the torch and trimming some of it off would be enough to stop the driveshaft from rubbing.

Skid Row makes engine skid plates that attach to the OEM transmission skid.

I have the Skid Row JP-0019 bolted to the stock skid. It is a really tight fit with an auto but a great skid. You might also look into UCF. Their stuff is good, more options as well. Call Matt at undercoverfab if you have questions about how it will fit or how easy it will be to put in.

My 06 has what I thought was the stock front skid plate. It has the front mount to the front lower control arm frame side bolts and goes back to bolt to the transfer skid. Mine is a 6 speed and has plenty of room. If yours has just a slight contact point I would either grind or torch a bit off to allow more room. You already have it there and its paid for.

Sorry to be misleading , I was wheeling in Arizona this winter and would hear a scrapping noise when in the washes. Since i had no way to fix at that time i took it to shop to have it looked at and when i g ot it back it was torched in half and left a jagged edge which would love to catch a rock. When i came home i took what was left of it off. The reason for my post is i have been looking at different ones and they seem to say that they bolt up to there transfer case skids and not so much the oem on the rubicon Thanks

Thats the same area that mine was rubbing,too bad i got upset with the way the shop hacked mine and took it off threw it away.

I , struck out at rokeman, they were honest and said it was not a good fit with stock transfer case skid . I took a look at Skid Row and it does look like a tight fit. i must be the only one trying to do this. still looking for help as i want to do some wheeling soon, Thanks, Ed

The skid row is a tight fit but it works. You definitely aren't the only one, plenty of us have skids. I can't blame Rokmen for telling you to steer clear. Sometimes parts just don't fall into place and it's probably allot easier for them to tell you to look elsewhere than deal with an unhappy customer that doesn't want to take a grinder to their new fancy skid. If you're still looking for help I assume you have already talked to Matt at UCF? He knows this stuff. I'd show you how mine fits but I have an aluminum transmission pan and a small MML, it wouldn't do you any good.
