He guys, today I tried shifting into 4x4 regular, but it had some weird shift linkage play issue and wouldn't go into regular 4x4. Upon abruptly shifting, it seems now it's stuck in 4x4 low and I can only drive say 35mph and I'm getting a winding sound also. I have a fairly new B&M shifter.

1. Any ideas on a fix.
2. Is the winding sound normal in 4x4 low?

The B&M works the transmission. Your issue of being in 4lo is more than likely a linkage problem with the transfer case. If you have a friend with you have someone try putting in in 2high, all the way down, as someone is underneath on the drivers side and watches for the linkage to move and help it get into position.

I would imagine the winding is normal, but ive never driven that fast in 4lo

Check out this thread.

Yes,unbolt the linkage and use the arm on the case to move into 2hi,then install a cable shift linkage.

Thanks, I found some more info on a search pertaining to this.

Pop the linkage off the transfer case arm
Usually a plastic bushing or clip
Don’t worry — it just snaps off
Grab the transfer case arm firmly by hand
Move it FORWARD (toward the front bumper)
You’ll feel distinct detents:
All the way back → 4-Low
One notch forward → 4-High
All the way forward → 2-High
👉 Push it fully forward into 2-High
It may take a firm shove, but it should not require extreme force.
