The Jeep went from running fine to not starting. All of the electronic devises work and the head lights are bright. Once the ignition key is turned to start, a single click can be heard from the engine/stater area. I have been told that it is likely the stater solenoid. Some also suggested that there might be a starter relay that could bebe bad. It certainly feels like a low voltage switch issue. Also, will jumping the positive and negative on the started bypass the solenoid? I would really like to rule out items before buying and installing a new stater/solenoid.

The Jeep has an automatic tranny, so no jump start option.

Thank you in advance as we are trying to get the Jeep back on the road today, if possible.

Certainly when I hear click no turn over, I would start with the starter, as it’s the most simple solution, and the issue fits.

Yes you can jump it with a large screwdriver. If it kicks over, I’d disconnect the battery and pull the starter and have Napa test the starter before you buy one, that’s just me.
