I beg to differ on that. A mechanical problem inside the transmission could cause it too.The tcc cannot lock up if it’s unplugged.

Hey Jerry,on my 2002 the flow master got a little louder after I deleted the 3rd. Cat during the tummy tuck.but after the gear change to 4.56 I’m still getting 12 mpg,but do I need to adjust my tv cable now,is there an easy way to tell if my converter is locking up,I can’t really tell-with the louder noise-thanksNo, it confirms the problem is not inside the transmission.
When the torque converter locks up it almost feels like a 4th gear is engaging and the rpms drop 100-150 or so depending on your speed.Hey Jerry,on my 2002 the flow master got a little louder after I deleted the 3rd. Thanks,I just didn’t know if going to 4.56 needed a rv cable adjustamentWhen the torque converter locks up it almost feels like a 4th gear is engaging and the rpms drop 100-150 or so depending on your speed.
I don't believe the TV cable has any effect on when the torque converter locks up. The factory adjustment says the cable slack should be adjusted so there's no slack but it's not actually pulling on the TV lever. In some cases it can be adjusted a little tighter but @mrblaine is more familiar with when that should be done.
It does, about 3 clicks more than zero to increase the governor pressure to hold it in gear just a little bit longer before it shifts. Thanks,I just didn’t know if going to 4.56 needed a rv cable adjustament

Well I went out and disconnected the TCC . The transmission went through 1, 2 and 3rd and never did the torque converter lock up. Then reconnected the TCC and the torque converter did lock back up.When the torque converter locks up it almost feels like a 4th gear is engaging and the rpms drop 100-150 or so depending on your speed.

Good, that localizes the issue to something electronic. The speedometer may need to be calibrated since the PCM uses your speed to calculate when to lock it up, or perhaps your PCM is going bad.Well I went out and disconnected the TCC . How would you Calibrate the speedometer?Good, that localizes the issue to something electronic. The speedometer may need to be calibrated since the PCM uses your speed to calculate when to lock it up, or perhaps your PCM is going bad.
If you didn't install a SSSYE and are still running the stock speedometer gear.... http://www.4x4xplor.com/speedo.htmlHow would you Calibrate the speedometer?
Speedohealer it isIf you didn't install a SSSYE and are still running the stock speedometer gear.... http://www.4x4xplor.com/speedo.html
If you're not still running the factory speedometer gear you'll need to install a Speedohealer to calibrate it.
