Last week, a few buddies and I competed in and finished the BFGoodrich 36 Hours of Uwharrie. It's a military themed, backcountry, offroad based challenge testing teams in multiple disciplines that takes place in the Uwharrie National Forest in NC. Using Tread Lightly principles, things like offroad driving, backcountry navigation, vehicle recovery, first aid, physical endurance, shooting/marksmenship, and canoeing are some of the missions a team needed to compete in. Teams had to check-in with everything they thought they would need to complete the challenge in or on their vehicles as no outside help or rescue would be permitted during the event. It was true test of our ability to face obstacles(not just rock and offroad) and use ingenuity and our ability to think outside the box. It was a complete blast to work so closely with my teammate and get it done. I highly recommend anyone interested testing themselves, your skills and knowledge to register for the next challenge. (reg opens for the next event sometime in Sept)
