4.88s ordered by the shop (cold feet)

35x12.50r15 Cooper Evolution M/T ordered. I had to tell someone, haha, 1st time for 35s! I liked the price, looks, reviews and weight - cross fingers!
Nice! I didn't know about the Evolution M/T until your post.

From the brief review I read, I'll consider them over the STT Pro if I'm mainly in wet/snow conditions rather than rocks.

I'd only go with 17's possibly for 35's but more likely only for 37's.
@Jerry Bransford so do you think 15's are better suited for 35's or 17's? I have Dick Cepek 15's now with 35's that came on my jeep but a jeep mechanic said I might do better with 17's. I have a stock set of jeep 17's off a gladiator I was thinking of switching to, since they were free, and put a new set of 35's on those, if that's even doable? I'd prefer to keep my 15's since there a nice set. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks

You didn't ask me, but on looks alone I would say 17. But I run 35 on 15 because the price difference is stupid and it's still easier to find C rated tires and wheels with the right backspacing in 15.

This is partially why I stayed with 15"s.

- Didn't want to pay more for E-load rated tires when my jeep is too light for that set-up.
- I'm partial to having more sidewall.
- I prefer the look of 15"s over 17"s with a 35" tire on a TJ.
- Didn't want to run spacers.

I just put 4.88s in my 05 LJ with 285 75R16 tires. I did the job myself after watching BFH Garage (Hosejockey61 on here) re-gear video a bazillion times. Lotta work, took me way longer than it should have due to lack of experience and no lift..... but I now know much more about how an axle works and how the gears work together..... well worth the time and effort for the learning aspect of it all...... Still not sure I like the 4.88 with 33" tires, a little buzzy at highway speeds, I am due for new tires so toying with the idea of moving up to 35"........

Auto or manual? I found the 4.88 a bit low with 32s and a 6 speed, but perfect with 35s. I'm about to swap to a 5 speed and may end up thinking the 4.88 isn't enough.

you'd need spacers to get the correct backspacing and bolt pattern
Any opinions would be appreciated.
the two things 17s do for you are to allow for some bigger brake kits and certain tires (MT/Rs in particular)

I have a 2 1/2" OME and 1 1/4" BL, not sure how 35" would fit?...... your thoughts?

For me personally I like 15's better for 35's. 17's are ok but I like having more sidewall flex-action with 15's.

Thank you. I was just reading a thread "Using JL wheels on a TJ" that talked in depth on all that. Now I'm mixed. I may just stay with the 15's afterall.
