Well hi guys (&or gals)
I just joined the forum, probably for the same reason as many of you. I have all of issue with my trans and have no clue what to do next except rebuild.
The jeep is a 2005 Wrangler 4.0 42 RLE ,235 75 R15, factory height. About a month ago after leaving the house (also its used on a mail route) when it shifted from 1st to 2nd it didn't shift anymore, I done all the obvious things after I got it back to the house I changed filter and filled it back. I reset the computer and it ran fine shifted fine until I stopped at the store (5 to 6 miles) &when I left it wouldn't shift again except it was in 1st. Since I couldn't fix it then went to the old 76 DJ. This weekend I changed the shift solenoid and it acted better than it ever had. I drove it for maybe 15 miles stopping and taking off a few times and still shifted fine. Today was the 1st time it's been drove since Sunday it done fine to the post office and for about the 1st hour. Now it's back to not shifting like before. Now I'm totally clueless on what to do next. When I changed the fluid I left the fluid in the torque converter, I did find some fine shavings in the pan, temp stays at about 210. I'm out of ideas and I need help bad if anybody has any clues I'd be more than greatful thanks.

The shift solenoid also sometimes needs to be reset with a factory scanner, I believe there is a way to do it without the scanner but I don’t remember what it was off the top of my head. I have always programmed them with the scanner.
