I recently popped a line on my while driving trans and I’m trying to get an idea of how much atf it will take to fill it. As I was coming to a stop I lost the ability to create forward motion, if that helps estimate how much fluid is left.

Approximately 4 quarts ATF+4 when drained via dropping the pan / Approximately 8.8 quarts dry fill. Make sure to use ATF+4, not just ATF!

For future reference Just under 4 quarts filled my transmission to the proper level. The circumstances were as follows; After noticing that I was spraying ATF I came to a stop and shut off the engine within approximately 20 seconds of the trans slipping(?) and not transferring power to the rear wheels.
All this to say, If you find yourself in similar circumstances you lost roughly 4 quarts of ATF. I went under the assumption that I lost at least 3qts and started checking the level after putting in that amount.
