50 Years ago - Edmund Fitzgerald

Does anyone remember a casino in Lake Tahoe that blew up in 1980? One of my co-workers was contacted by the FBI - turns out his MOS years bevore had been explosives of the type/configuration as had been used on the casino. Apparently, very few people had that type of expertise.

Never heard about that one.

I was actually a grown adult before I learned that the first of the post office shootings that led to the coining of the phrase "going postal" occurred in the same post office I mailed my selective service registration from 15 years later.

I remember OKC bombing, 9/11, unibomber, etc.

I had never heard of the Edmund Fitzgerald till I heard the song.

I guess it's being from the South, I don't know.

I'll never forget nor forgive what happened on 8/21/92 in Idaho or on 2/28/93 in Texas when our .gov went rouge.

"Rogue". "Rouge" is a deep red color and is also used to mean lipstick. Is there something you're trying to tell us? ;) :D

But more seriously, I agree. That was bullshit - and let's not forget Elian Gonzalez.

Technically, our government did go rouge, but it was much later than Ruby Ridge or Waco:

I don't remember Ruby Ridge, though I learned about it later. Don't know if it wasn't talked about much in these parts, or I was just too young (right around me turning 9...). Waco was only a year later though and I vividly remember seeing that on the news for weeks.

It's fairly well accepted that OKC was retaliation for those events but I saw in one documentary that OKC was chosen as the location of the FBI Field office of the SAIC at Waco, Bob Ricks. But the FBI field office wasn't even in that building, so either McVeigh didn't do his homework, the theory is dumb, or he wanted to hit Ricks home town but not Ricks himself.

I think McVeigh was a patsy and just did what he was told to do, and again the .gov said it was a retaliation plot.

Clinton and Janet Reno were testing the American people to see what they could get away with.

Weaver and Koresh could both have been picked up in their respective towns without a fight, but no that didn't serve the narrative of what was being pushed.

I mean come on we're sending in a bunch of feds on a failure to appear for a short barrel shotgun........... please that's to freaking absurd.

Sorry for the rant these 2 things and OKC make my blood boil and one more thing.............

I hope Lon Horiuchi burns in hades for being involved and killing innocent people at Ruby Ridge and Waco.
