8.25 diff wheel bearing play?

Hi,
My 07 KJ failed a fitness test on up/down rear wheel play both sides so I went ahead and swapped the wheel bearings out. It went pretty well and the axles looked in good order, no wear I could see (85k miles). The seals were not leaking at all.
I know a little in out play is ok and that's certainly there.
I have not dropped it down and driven it yet, but the up down play still seems to be there, is there anything else could it be?

For anyone else who strikes this, it turns out the problem is likely to be the bearings inside the differential itself rather then the wheel bearings. You can tell by pushing your wheel in firmly while moving side to side; it feels like the tip of the axle is moving around inside the diff.
