Hey People,
Trying to track down an emission code on my Jeep.
I have read a few early post and they have been very helpful.
Since owning the Jeep it has always had the P0455 code. Right away replaced the gas cap no change.
Recently I dropped the tank and found the return fuel line was broken and the metal return gas line on the chassis was rusted and pitted.
I have now replaced the entire return line with basic 3/8 fuel hose and replaced the "Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid".
Since doing this I still have the the code (after resetting it) and now I get a decent amount of gas smell when the Jeep has been parked.
Only happens after I start it and pull it out of the garage.
I had my wife cycle the ignition a bunch of times to see if I could see any gas leaking and did not.
I do not have access to a smoke machine yet. And when the gas tank was dropped the fuel filler neck is in good condition no cracks.
*Now some technical stuff from my Cen- Tech scanner:
Purge Monitor - IAC Shift
status Fail
Purge Monitor - RPM Shift
Status Fail
Purge Monitor - Adaptive Fuel Shift
Status Fail
0.040' Leak Detection Pump Period
Test(ms) 506
min 1408
Max ——-
Status Fail
Not sure if any of this helps.
