I recently purchased a 2001 Wrangler Sport, and it is a low mileage (92k KM) , great shape vehicle, with no problems, except one. Originally from Canada, it has the speedometer in KPH, and that makes it somewhat difficult for me, as this is also my first vehicle, purchased BEFORE i have my license, with the intent to practice with it.

My first thought was to replace the cluster itself with one in MPH, but i decided against it because it is in otherwise perfect shape, and i don't care if the odometer reads in KM, only the speedometer display matters to me. My first thought was to replace the panel on the cluster with one that reads MPH, but someone else suggested i get a device that could plug into the OBD 2 port and display the speed that way.

My question is thus, which do you think would be better? Also, does anyone have any good places they know of i could order either the panel or a sensor that would be compatible with my jeep?

You are over thinking this one. This is an easy fix for the guys over at US Speedo.

In fact i ended up purchasing a gauge face from them (via amazon) last night. Should arrive sometime this week, at which point i'll pull the cluster and replace it myself.
