I have stock gearing on my 285s and it’s not bad at all? I hear all the complaints about stock gearing, but I’m not seeing it on my rig. Now I will say I haven’t driven on different gearing so maybe I don’t know what I’m missing also.
It's been 13 years since I've been in the business, so I'll take a stab at it and say $1000. Hood and cowl, right @Chris?
Damn isn’t it close to 5k for the whole car or am I way off haha?
I think when I jump to 35s that’s what I’m going to do. I’m in Jasper home of Scott Rolen lolWhere in IN are you? You’re welcome to drive my TJ. It’s geared to 5.13 with 33” tires.

Yep that would be Bedford IN. Beautiful area, I’ve never biked it but there’s lots of nice terrain I’m sure. That’s close to the Hoosier national forest, right? I hear that’s some awesome mountain biking.
Honestly, if I had a Rubicon, I would have gone to 5.38 instead of the 5.13. Even for 33’s.
Yea I misunderstood what you were asking originally I guess. Mine looks the same, but it doesn’t rattle around. I haven’t wheeled mine yet so I’m not too worried about it. Take some hockey pucks and stack them until you reach the tire. I did that on my last JK worked pretty well.Got the Rugged Ridge tire carrier installed today. There's no way you are running this tire carrier on a factory Moab wheel with 285s and stock tire bumpers @Starrs.
Look at how much mine still sticks out from the stock tire bumpers. The good thing is it will be easy to extend the bumpers, but still, you said you didn't have to extend the bumpers at all? Not sure how that's possible if you're running the same setup as I am.

That is what I did for mine, cut down a second set. Looks cleaner than other solutions, IMO.I'm just going to take a spare set of the stock bumpers, cut the curved part off the top, then add them to the ones already on there. I measured and that will be enough for them to contact the spare tire. I don't wheel very crazy so I probably don't have to worry about it too much, but with the poor quality of roads in some of the cities around here, that's enough to make me worry!
Either way, the spare tire carrier works great!

You won’t need to glue it.Yes, this is exactly what I had planned to do as mentioned above. If I cut down a second set and stack them, it will work perfectly, and end up looking just like yours. Did you glue them together or just stack them and tighten down?
Just stacked them up. I did buy longer screws. The only thing I could find at the time was a philips head screw which worked fine.
You won’t need to glue it.
