Makes me curious how they compare

I'm also curious about that. I'd imagine the Trail Ready's are better in some way, but I probably don't wheel hard enough to ever figure out why they are better. New TR's are almost $500 a wheel and I like the looks of the AEV's better anyway.

For folks who use the search function and stumble upon this thread.

Depending on the age of the AEV wheels, they are cheaper Chinese clones of the original AEV wheels that were once made in the USA ...AEV went to China for their wheel manufacturing See Post #7 here

Trail Ready's beadlocks are made in the USA using domestic materials and any bolt pattern can be punshed out for them.

That's the difference, do you want Chinese made wheels or American made wheels...

Also, we'll never know for sure, because OP didn't end up buying them, but they look to be plasti-dipped. I think they would have been a pretty easy clean-up. They were in better shape than mine were when I bought mine...

Second thing to note. DO NOT powdercoat AEV wheels. They have a powdercoat primer on them and if you have them done again, the extra time in the oven will ruin the heat treatment of the wheel. I can't get into specifics as I'm not a metallurgist, I'm just repeating what AEV has published in numerous places.

You can refinish them with liquid paint though.
