I purchased a combo set of the AFE Power SS Header and and Catalytic Converters. I wanted to share my experience. I plan to install on my 2004 TJ Rubicon.

• Catalytic Converter Part #47-48003.
• Twisted Steel Header Part #48-46202.

When I purchased the set I thought the price was high. I purchased the set just prior to the increase in cost for exhaust components. Now they are crazy high.

I purchased (2) Catalytic Converters and (1) Header. Purchase date of March 26, 2021. Arrived at my door June 26, 2021. (3 months to deliver).

The Catalytic Converters are 409 Stainless Steel. The welds are ok but not the expected professional welds. These are hand made in California. Non CARB compliant. Strange though, they are built in California?? The Cats do not include any nut/bolt hardware for the Header to Cat connections. Included with the kit are instructions, AFE Power car tag surround, sticker, regular steel band clamps, and a 409 stainless steel rear down pipe replacement.

There are small discrepancies between the two sets of catalytic converters. One set has an AFE Power badge and the other does not. The fit to the header is better on the badged set however, by no means perfect.

The Twisted Steel Header is 409 Stainless Steel. The welds are good in areas and so so in other areas. The header is hand made. Out of the box, I applied a straight edge to the 1/2” thick flange and there is a significant sway from Zero. The header pipe work is 14 gauge 409 stainless steel. The Header does not include any nut/bolt hardware for the Header to Cat connections. The header is CARB compliant. The header comes with Instructions, intake/exhaust gasket, a plastic AFE Power car tag surround, and a sticker.

I have included photos of both sets of Cats and Header. More or less welcoming any feed back and providing information for those that may be interested in purchasing a set from AFE Power. A couple questions for those in the know about the header.
  • Should I worry about how flat the header flange is?
  • Should I worry about bending the cats to fit the header?
  • With the header flange off zero and cats not lining up with the header. If I “make” the parts fit, will this cause stress cracks later or will the header and cats conform to their installed positions?
